  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm confused how this has to do with the discussion?
Everyone's right to bodily autonomy. If you have it regarding your kidneys, why shouldn't a woman have it regarding her womb?

Telling a woman it's wrong to have an abortion is not the same as vasectomy if that is what you are trying to get at. The unborn child in her still has a right to life.
And she doesn't have rights?

Why do zygotes get more rights than women?

-- A2SG, a zygote doesn't even have working kidneys yet.....

What about the rights of both? Why not support BOTH? Love the woman and her child.

I never stated that.
Right, okay, but if the only way a woman can know that she won’t “get pregnant” is to not have sex, that really isn’t an “option” for married women, is it?

#1. How so, she had sex, so she knew what she was getting into.
Ah, so have sex, and your rights just disappear. That it?

What other rights does she lose because she had sex?

#2. I just thought it was interesting you mentioned that. That's all :)
I have no idea what your medical history is, I was just trying to use a different hypothetical to make the point you keep missing.

-- A2SG, but funny that you keep going out of your way to miss it....

Actions lead to consequences. Married or unmarried.

#1. No. Someone does not lose their rights before or after having sex. Or if it leads to conception. I never stated that.
#2. Oh no, about my kidney, it was just an interesting observation. Nothing more, nothing less. I knew it was hypothetical.

Love the woman by telling her she no longer gets to decide how her body is used?

Weird definition of love, I gotta say!

-- A2SG, not how I'd define it, personally.....

It's not her body. The unborn child is not her body. Period.

Yeah, you did: "she had sex, so she knew what she was getting into."

Because she had sex, according to you, she no longer has the right to decide how her body is used.

It remains unanswered. Feel free to answer, any time.

#1. She made her decision, it's no longer just her body "being used."
#2 ?

It's not her body.
Whose is it, then? Does having sex mean she loses it?

The unborn child is not her body. Period.
It's in it. And that zygote requires her body to survive. It isn't independent in any way, whatsoever.

-- A2SG, does that give it the right to take possession of her body from her?

The unborn baby is inside her body, but it's not her body.
You're right, but none of us are fully independent. We ALL rely on others for our survival in the world.
And no one is "taking possession of her body."

The zygote isn't just inside of her body, it's using her body for all functions of life. Without her body, it can't survive.

You're right, but none of us are fully independent. We ALL rely on others for our survival in the world.
And no one is "taking possession of her body."
Then why can't she decide to deny a zygote the right to use her body?

-- A2SG, according to you, anyway....in most states, she actually does have that right....
