The Everglades started to become under assault by these species of snake in 1979. Now, there are so many of them and they are so large, that they are now the apex predator and are wiping out all of the wildlife. They are now being found in areas north of the Glades and soon will be found in those suburbs if not stopped.

Since this problem has now exploded beyond any conventional method of eradication, we are forced to use unconventional methods.

If we have not yet developed this technology, I think the situation now forces us to. The means of using satellites to scan and destroy targeted DNA strands (of this species) covering chosen areas, above ground and below.

If anyone has any idea on how to save the Everglades, please post yours.

We had a goodly number of aligators feeding on them, though some lost that battle. The real problem began after Hurricane Andrew in 1992 when everyone's home was destroyed and those with pet pythons lost them to the everglades. :(

They are already in the "suburbs" because the building has gone west so far into the former 'glades.

My solution (tongue in cheek but could be done): Put waterproof ankle bracelets on certain lifer prisoners and make an agreement that if they stay in the 'glades until they capture/kill 1000 pythons of record, then they go free. If they can do survival skills and live there (in a boat) and not be eaten by gator nor python then 1000 more snakes are gone. If not, no loss.

So do ppl fear the snakes more than the alligators in the Everglades?

I believe so. I sure do! The pythons can eat alligators whole.... and they lay in wait and then bite, squeeze to death and eat... including humans.

An alligator you can almost hold it's jaw shut, as it's power is in the clamp down... and if you have a rope or tape you can wrap it ... if you pounce on it first (best leave it alone)... it will grab you and take you spinning down under water but if you keep your cool and have a knife strapped to ya, you can win that battle.

You can't unwrap the python!
