That makes sense, though on the other hand (or should I say, in the hand? :sorry:) I have heard people say that receiving in the hand is a better response to Jesus' "take and eat." He offers Himself to the communicant and the communicant accepts Him with an active gesture--raising the host to the mouth.

Both ways can have profound meaning to the individual, just as both ways can be abused by the individual. It seems to me like it's a matter of temperament.

I do agree. Tradition is a powerful thing for me, but it is just that; tradition. Receiving in the hand does not conflict with Scripture, so from our denomination's POV it is adiaphora; something of dogmatic indifference.

Darn, i think I just the in the hand button for receiving, and i receive on the tongue. Chalk that mistake up to its late and i need to go to bed!

Anyhow I have not read the whole thread yet.

My Church was just renovated, and the priest brought back the alter railing. I was so excited I could hardly stand it. There have always been two kneeler's beside him for those that wanted to kneel to receive, but now we have the alter railing back.:clap::clap:
