  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Bit puzzled by this.

What I mean is I don't try to hold a conversation with Him where I expect Him to share His thoughts, I just direct a question to Him out loud or go over a situation that I don't understand, and at some point normally a short time after that I will receive a revelation inside of an answer to that.

That's the way I understand about the section of scripture where Jesus says "He will not speak of Himself,.."

Does that make more sense?

Well I think a lot of times I'm just giving my specific understanding of something without providing much in the way of context around that. I'm not like Oscarr that can type out chapters of books fully explaining his thoughts or positions on something in a single post.
You and I both.
But it still seems self contradictory.

Ah, I like that.
Reminds me of one of the most neglected verses in scripture. James1v5If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

When I first found this, I thought it astonishing, and immediately put it into practise, constantly asking God stuff. The trick is being utterly confident that God will do what he says.

The answers invariably came, sometimes immediately, sometimes much later as the Lord took me through seemingly irrelevant circumstances, and .............bingo! It was like he was beside me giving a big nudge, "Did you see what just happened?"
He had just led me through a perfect illustration of the answer, just like he did with his disciples.

To me, the biggest reason most believers lack wisdom is that they don't truly believe God speaks today, therefore they might ask, but invariably resort to their man centred solutions.
