Hey there again yall,

As many of my thread followers know, I have been having problems associated with OCD.

Today, I have started to realize that I cannot atone for my behavior no matter how much I try, only Jesus can offer atonement and I need to start having better faith in that fact.

I do think that despite EVERYTHING, I am born again, but I still have doubts.

Still, it is now time to start living it with Jesus at the wheel.

Do any of you guys need prayers or help with anything? I would be more that happy to help. May God bless you all.:prayer:

The thing is... when you are born again it is your spirit -- your heart, that is made new.

Your soul (which is your mind, will, and emotions) needs to be renewed daily with the Word of God. This is the case if you were born again 5 minutes ago or 50 years ago. We need to renew our mind daily.

And remember... once you are born again... you are a new creation in Christ Jesus.
Even if you don't feel like it.

Just keep renewing your mind and eventually your feelings will catch up with the reality and truth of what the Word of God says about you.

And if you mess up along the journey, confess your sins and God is faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you of all unrighteousness.

We serve an awesome God!

Be blessed -
Cheers,
Brenda

P.S. If you want to say a prayer for my 18 year old daughter, that she will turn her life back toward God, I would greatly appreciate it!

Now that sounds like a man who is conquering sin-consciousness :) . Since I am a young, single Christian male, I'll take a prayer for the casting down of sexual lust/temptation.

(also, if I might ask a rhetorical question: How do handle forgiving others? Do you offer forgivingness unconditionally? I know I'm the type that if I didn't purposely make a habit of forgiving, I could easily hold a grudge - for years, or maybe even forever )

I try not to hold grudges and I forgive when I can, but I am only human and do get frustrated and angry at my family and others. I am trying to be more open to other peoples ideas and I do not hate other people, just some idea systems that teach hate. (ex. Nazi, Satanism, KKK, etc...)

Please people don’t buy into the teaching that once you or someone else says you are born again, that you are saved. That one is spiritually clean and physical sins don’t count. All that is nothing but a teaching from Satan. Satan just loves people to keep on sinning, because that means they are following him.

The only way one can defeat sin/Satan is by having an indwelling of the Holy Spirit. If the Holy Spirit is teaching one he needs to communicate with he or she. Have you heard Jesus/Holy Spirit teach you?

Read Romans seven and eight and see how Paul tells us that man can’t stop sinning until he is spiritual.

Galatians 5:16“Let me put it like this if you are guided by the Spirit you will be in no danger of yielding to self-indulgence....”.

Dont' get me wrong, I want to stop sinning, my troubles are because of an illness that I did not ask for, is tormenting me and is keeping me from stopping the sinning all together.

I did not mean to insult you maim and hope that you have had a good life within jesus christ.

 Brenda, I will pray for you and your daughter.
jwaitman, I understand your struggle with sexual sins all to well myself, and will pray for you too.

I also ask that both of you pray for me also.:)

startrekfan1, God says His grace is sufficent for you, so there's no excuses.

2 Corinthians 12:8-10
8For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

There is no excuse to deliberately commit a sin if the Holy Spirit leads one.

Most people don’t even know what being led by the Holy Spirit means.

I doubt that most Christians have ever recognized when the Holy Spirit has tried to guide them.

From my experience most Christian don’t even believe the Holy Spirit is in Christians, or anyone.

All right Giver, I'll take the bait on this one. How does one being born again, spiritually clean and sins forgiven not equal to one being saved. I understand the battle against the flesh is in its infant stage at this point.

"Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross" (Col. 2:14)

"For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us " (Eph. 2:14)

"Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace" (Eph.2:15)

"And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby" (Eph.2:16)

What do you mean by the phrase "I understand the battle against the flesh is in its infant stage at this point"?

Let's just say that, as a man, I have had MANY sins "against the flesh". I have always struggled to understand it and have tried to quit on many instances. Are you saying that, even after being saved, people still have troubles with "sins against the flesh" and "impure thoughts" and can still have all of that sin forgiven even after being born again?

Oh goodness yes. I had many struggles against my fleshly nature even though I know I'm born again, yes, despite what many will say is an impossibility to know around here, I do have confidence in the faith I proclaim. Something that's a bit advanced in terms of a Christian walk but...
When it comes to 'habitual' sins, sins that you repeat constantly, an addiction of sorts, it's a spiritual matter, also known as a stronghold. If you have a sin you struggle with constantly, you should study spiritual warfare, but becareful, there are many... strange ideas out there about what that means. Just read up on the Armor of God and go from there is my suggestion. Truth be told it's something I'm just starting to understand myself. :)

*quick edit*
One last thing I should say, the fact that you ARE worried about your sins is a good sign I would dare say. It means you are becoming aware of your spiritual nature, which in a relationship with God is a must, as that's where it starts. You're on the right track, don't get discouraged, we're all rooting for you here.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

2 Peter 2:9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

If you're willing, I could use a few prayers that my family finds financial security, just some way to meet bills and financial obligations, that sort of thing. Praying for you brother, God bless. :) Though, something to give you peace of mind as well.

Matthew 6:25-34 NIV
25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]? 28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I just want to say, it's okay to be conscious of sin, but don't let that slow you down. What's happening when you become conscious of one is you are being made aware of an area in your life that needs to be smoothed out as it were, but do not worry. The Lord is your potter, and you are His clay. He'll help you get the lumps out as it were. Take time to process all you hear and read, don't be rushed into things. It's called a walk for a reason.

It is rather simple

James 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Ephesians 6:10-12 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

2 Corinthians 6:4-10 Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

It takes work to acquire the full armour of GOD. Rest in HIM and HE will make your load lighter, to rest in, you must first trust HIM and that HIS WAYS will lead to your spiritual growth and allow you to posses HIS full armour.

You remain in my prayers.

I wanted to talk more about "sins against the flesh".

After I was baptized for the remission of my sins, I tried to let go of those fleshly sins, however, as predictable, I fell back into them. All I tried to do was commit those sins and then ask for forgiveness. Then I followed in a pattern of some sort and comitted those sins on certian days. Kind of like a schedule of some sort. This continued for a good 2 years. In recent months, I have researched these fleshly sins and some people think that fleshly sins are NOT sin. I adopted this behavior for a while, still commiting the sin, but having what I thought were better thoughts during the action. Now I have gone back to trying to ban the sin all together.

After all of THAT, can God still forgive me? even though I KNEW that I was comitting sin? That I was DELIBERATLY going against the will of God? That I KNEW that action would condemn me even AFTER discovering the truth? That this sort of action could invalidate my baptism??? Is god sill forgiving me even after all of THAT??

Would you be able to forgive your child?

I wouldn't know, I have never had the honor of having children, only a nephew...

If he did some of the things that I have done on my watch, I would be dang angry for a while that's for sure. Then I would turn him over to his mama, after that.... Of course he is family and I would forgive him, but a part of me would never look at him the same way again. It's just human nature I guess

I'm sorry, I just don't want to take any chances when it comes to salvation. I don't want to go to god and find out that just because I did one VERY IMPORTANT thing wrong on the path to salvation that I am going to hell.

So call me scared, call me weird, call me whatever, but these things are my cross to bear...
