my boss has this same problem. i never saw it in action until i went to a large seminar with her. there were thousands of ppl there. she just went off the deep end. she was shaking, sweating, etc.
i'm her personal assistant and have been her good friend for the past 5yrs. i got her through that experience by placing a hand on her shoulder and quietly reassuring her that we were fine. that nothing was going to happen to us. that at any time she wished i would go outside with her for a break. she calmed somewhat. i joked with her, made her laugh and generally forget that she was afraid. sure, it still lurked there in the background, but she was able to stay for the entire 8hr seminar.

I experienced panic attacks so servere I was agoraphobic. I no longer have them. I started having them in 1992 and they lasted about 5 years. I did a variety of things. I seeked christian counseling, I worked on trusting God. I had to make myself go and experience the anxiety. I also found out I had food allergies (she might want to check). '

The best thing that helped me was to be sure I breathe with my stomach and not my chest so I don't hyperventilate. Also when I felt the anxiety I learned to try and relax while it is happening and flow with it, that will help them to go away.

I did not take any kind of anti-anxiety medicine but I think it would have helped me get over them quicker if I had taken at least something light. Lucinda Bassett ((?) has a good book out "Panic to Power". Also telling yourself positive things instead of negative things helps also. It does take time to get better and time is the best healer. Panic attacks are more common then you think and it is the most terrifying feeling a person can have.

How interesting.

I ministered to a lady friend of mine just this last weekend who is having the exact same issue.

After prayer, we knew that G-d was telling us this: Use your Sword. The enemy is attacking and he has no authority to do so. You are armed with a weapon...the Sword of the Spirit (which is the Word of God). Take that weapon out of it's sheath and USE it. When the "attack" comes, take out The Word and start SPEAKING it...not reading it, not using it to edify yourself or others, use it as a WEAPON against the enemy. It may seem "odd" or "uncomfortable" in certain social situations, but look at the bright side...it could make for a great chance to witness! :)

That was what He told us to do, with the lady I was helping...I'm not sure if it applys in your friends case, but it certainly seems simlilar enough to perhaps not be a coincidence.

I hope you can help your friend. I have yet to hear a report from my friend, but I have no doubt that G-d answered our prayer for guidance.

Be blessed!
