  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why should we be Christian? Well consider the alternative...

1. Atheism: when we die there is nothing. Life would then be a cruel joke, especially for babies and children who die. This is more or less just an excuse to live a selfish and greedy lifestyle looking out for number one. These just need proof of the supernatural. They should get into witchcraft and occultism in search of power, then come to Christ.

2. Reincarnation: If it happens, it happens. You get absolutely nothing by actually believing in it. It's like going to a casino and betting all your money on a game with no prize. If you're going to give away all your money you'd might as well go to heaven for it.

3. Heaven and Hell: Okay this one you've got to actually worry about. So what then is the only wise and rational choice to make?

Oh but you object, to be Christian you would have to serve others and live a holy lifestyle. Well here comes the good part:

"Choose life that you may live" -Moses.

Want to know what it's like to put on Christ and have the Holy Spirit living inside of you? You become invincible to the forces of sorrow, death, and decay.

You make a determined decision not to let anything get you down. If someone hurts you, you can easily turn the other cheek. If they steal from you, you might offer them your cloak. You might even sell all your possessions to the poor, and live to serve others. Your body becomes a holy temple, you can delight in sober living and don't need to defile it.

While that might seem unwise, keep in mind that if everyone did this then you would be just as happy and sure to receive.

What's wrong with the world? Is it not that there is war, mass theft, broken relationships, and deception everywhere? All because no one follows the ten commandments, which lead to happiness and life.

All of us have problems, but few find the simple and transcendant joy of letting go and letting God. Does your life suck? Well then lose it for God, and be amazed and the holy spirit you receive in return.

Jesus commanded his apostles to do nothing until they received the holy spirit. After getting it they were no longer fearful, and could even endure death and torture for their beliefs.

It's a sad reality, but we are going to die someday (unless we're raptured) and if the people in power want to torture and kill us they certainly could. The only reason they don't is because most folks will dig their own graves while serving them and ultimately satan wants everyone to go to hell.

So there you have it. Put on the full armor of God, accept Jesus and receive the spirit of Life. Become born again to the immortal and incorruptible. Stop being part of the problem and start being part of the solution to making our world a better place. Having considered every alternative it really is the only thing that makes sense.

If you think this sermon opens eyes, share it with the non-believers.
