How to begin again?

Thank you for your encouragement Kevlite2020. Isaiah does sound interesting, but I have been thinking of just starting with Genesis and reading through, unless anyone thinks this is a really bad idea.

I think that's a great idea. Before I became a believer, I read the Bible straight through like that and that's what led me to believe. And right now I'm just about to finish reading it straight through again. Picking different books and jumping around can be good, but reading the whole Bible can really give an appreciation for God and an understanding of ALL the things He has done for us better than just a few books here and there can. Just realize though that it's a tough task to read all of it and you will have to really be dedicated to getting through it.

Thanks. I have to say, though, that I don't think that dog in your signature is saying I love you. Oh, and I've decided to make the bible reading one of my new years resolution, so I'm hoping to make it a routine.

If you can manage it that would be worthwhile, but if you aren't feeling best motivated in the first place you are likely to get bogged down about half way through Exodus. An editted highlights of the story might be better, something like (off the cuff):
Genesis
Exodus up until it gets bogged down in tabernacle instructions
Joshua
Ruth
1 & 2 Samuel and Kings
Ezra and Nehemiah
Isaiah
Daniel
(Wisdom of Solomon if you are in a tradition that reads those books)
Luke and Acts
Philippians, Colossians and Philemon
James
Revelation

That would remind you of the whole grand narrative without danger of getting bogged down or loosing sight of the wood for the trees.
