Sure I can say God says it. God says it, God says it and says it, and you chose not to believe it. Your logic enables you to make the Bible say whatever you want to make it say, with no guiding principle of interpretation, except your own statement that the Bible is BUNK.

God says the Earth is about 6000 years old.
how about bring some actual scientific evidence and maybe people will respect you more.

no, what we have is the universe that God Himself created. please don't degrate it by saying it is "just dirt"

Of course we don't have just dirt. Those who deny the Scriptures as a basis for truth are left with only the material universe, which is what dirt is in essence, the elements of the chart. Meanwhile, WE have the Scriptures, which someone denigrated by calling it just a book. We have the universe that God created in six days as He revealed in the plain sense of Scripture. And that universe declares the God of Creation, his eternal power and Godhead, so they are without excuse. And the Scriptures plainly declare in the simple sense in which they were intended that the earth was created about 6000 years ago.

So...

Hindus, Taoists, Buddhists, Muslims, Jews (latter two don't accept NT), Deists, Neo-pagans and polytheists etc only believe in a material universe because they don't accept scritpure?

Intriguing false dichotomy - either the entire world accepts your God (or more particularly, your interpretation of that God), or they're atheistic materialists.

The Jews were looking for an EARTHLY KING Messiah and not a Savior. Yes, this seems to be true. Hinhus beleive we are constantly reborn into this world. It would seems that there is no spiritual realm to their way of thinking, except within the human mind. MATERIALISM.

well what i don't understand is this. if everything in the bible is 100% true why can't science back it up? why is there so much debate. God doesn't lie, that goes against His will. so why in the world do the events in the bible not line up with science?
just a question

If everything in the Bible is false, why cannot science back it up. Science is but a tool. A tool applied wrongly will not achieve the correct effect. Science is not wrong. The people who call themselves scientists are.

OK, so for the wisdom seeker who has come to CHRISTIAN FORUMS, understanding that we embrace the Nicene Creed, you need to be advised that Freethinker does not believe that the Bible is the Inspired Word of God, and the ultimate basis for truth.

Are you aware that most people involved in this thread are Atheists?

Just so you know, Atheists don't believe in the Bible, and don't believe in God. This is a debate forum, so of course non-christians will be here, it's why I am here. Your "point" would make sense if this were a thread about how much we love Jesus. I and most non-chrisitians here are here for debate, and entertainment. It's fun to watch you creationists squirm when the evidence is dumped on you.

Have you ever considered that you may just be senile?

Of course I am aware of Sheol, Hades, Bosor, as well as Bara, Bereshit, Yom and the rest of the biblical vocabulary, since as I read the Greek New Testament and the Hebrew, and I teach Hebrew. There are volumes and volumes of grammars and dictionaries and lexicons (By the way, I have quite a few of these available for anyone who is interested in adding to their library).

The Scripture is the Same. It is inspired. But I really don't need to discuss this with you since you believe it is all "BUNK." Actually it is you my fine and worthy unbelieving opponent, it is you who should not be declaring what is relevant and irrelevant. You are the one who should not be trying to tell me what I should and should not say, since you are not really a CF subscriber, but an unbelieving visitor.

If you don't like our stand for Scripture here you are welcome to stay and listen, and even post questions and comments. But you may find more agreement at Talk Origins. This is a Christian Forum.

Ahahahahahaha.

Listen buddy, I'm a veteran user of forums, and a little over 200 posts doesn't make one a "subscriber", on many forums you would still be a guest. Clearly your experience on the internet is lacking in more ways than one.

Also, I find your use of the word "our" a little ironic, since you have nobody on your side in this debate.

This is a "christian forum" with a debate thread populated by hundreds of non-christians. Look around you.

Lastly, Why are you playing "forum cop"? You just got done complaining about others doing it, and now here you are doing the same. What a hypocrite.

Floodnut had said that when dinosaurs and men co-existed men were generally vegetarian. After the Flood they became meat-eaters. Freethinker spues his human knowledge in contradiction to the plain statements of Scripture:

He says that vegetarianism can't be verified, but he has himself asserted that no spear points are found in dinosaurs which flourished primarily in the pre-flood world when humans were vegetarians generally. The first humans on the earth were gardeners, tillers of the soil. And within four generations of the beginning they were using metal and making musical instruments, and this was while the first generation was still living.

Cities (civilization) developed with Cain who build a city populated by his sons and daughters and some of his brothers and sisters perhaps, as well as cousins, nephews and neices. This began ONE GENERATION from the beginning, 6000 years ago.

Animals were killed as sacrifices and their skins were used for clothing, but humans also wove cloth early on (Genesis 4). Freethinker believes that the name of the first humans establishes what they did? "As their name implies" Their names were Adam and Eve, Cain, Abel, Seth, and their brothers and sisters, as well as Enosh, Jared and others. There names are given in Genesis since they were LITERAL PEOPLE six thousand years ago when the earth was first created.

No doubt after the flood for a few years it would have been common to use bones and stones to kill animals until they could set up the joint efforts necessary to mine and smelt metals. And you do agree with the Bible when you assert that killing a big dino would have been a life event like pygmies killing an elephats or a Masai killing a lion. And I am glad to see this poster admitting that not all dinosaurs were huge. Usually when it comes to loading the ark, evoutionist opponents like to set up a straw man like, "How could Noah catch all those huge raptors, and altosaurii and Ceratopsians and how could he fit them all on the ark?", as if the were all born huge and never existed as smaller reptilian specimens.

Dinosaurs and humans co-existed from the beginning of the Creation, about 6000 years ago, until the flood and for several years after the flood until most dinosaur species became extinct.

I didn't even read this post, because the first paragraph explains it all. Floodnut not only refers to himself in the third person, but tries to refute my argument by restating his unbacked assumption about pre-flood vegetarianism. It says nothing about it in the bible, and no history or science backs it up.

Congratulations on another proof of your arrogance and ignorance, Floodnut. You debate like a child.

Bottom line for Williams is the Bible is a mystery book full of nonsensical words and phrases which have no definite meaning. The best heremeneuticists all agree that the plain and simple sense of Genesis is that the earth is 6000 years old but they choose to set it aside in favor of weaker interpretations because of the supposed findings of Evolution.

If we can't believe what Jesus says about Creation in the Past, then How can we take seriously what he says about heaven in the future?
We can't.

You mentioned it, so we'll debate it.

Listen: you can't know that, so don't put yourself above God by pretending you have access to the absolute nature of all things.

EDIT: The following is an opinion-based rant...

The proud and smug demeanor exhibited by fundamentalists is very frightening to me, especially in a world growing ever smaller. There's no place on Earth for this kind of behavior... except in your own mind. It's okay to "know," but it's not okay to assume that that "knowledge" is any more than a belief.

This isn't a personal attack, but what I'm saying is that it is foolish and very ignorant to parade your own religious beliefs around as all that there is. I swear people don't understand the concept of humility these days.
