  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How often do you work out?

I work out between 4-6 days a week. On days that I don't have classes, I do 30 minutes of circuit training at the gym. On days I do have classes, I either swim for an hour or I get on the treadmill for 30-90 minutes.

I swam competitively for 6 years total (6 years YMCA team and 4 years in HS) but stopped when I was in college. Three weeks ago I started swimming laps, and I've fallen in love with it all over again. I try to go as often as I can, which is usually 4-5 times a week. Usually for about 45 minutes.

Just got back from lap swimming about 1/2 hour ago, actually.

I'll also do push-ups now and then. Slowly building up my upper body strength. I don't do 'female' style push-ups from the knees either, I do regular ones. :)

I'm also doing leg lifts and such to tone my legs.

I don't really work out.

I walk my dogs to the park every day which is about a mile to the park and a mile back. And I have a dance class where we do alot of stretching and some sit ups. But thats it.

I don't really need to work out anyway, I stay thin because I have a fast metabolism.

I work out 5 times a week. I alternate on upper body and lower body.

For upper, I do bench press, rows, curls, crunches, and some type of ab machine, don't know what it's called.

For lower body, I do squats and leg presses. Then a variation of other leg exercises, usually just what I'm in the mood for. Also I tend to do hang clean and presses on leg days, it works the whole body pretty well. Also dead lifts.

I basically stick to hard compound lifts.

I started working out a little over 2 months ago, and I have had an unbelievable increase in strength and power. When I first started, my max bench press was 115 pounds. Now, 2 months later, my max bench press is 180 pounds. I only weight 150 pounds, for the record.

The things that have helped me the most are consistency in workouts and a very big and healthy diet. I also take whey protein and creatine as a supplement.

Common misconception of working out. Thin people die of heart disease too. Their bodies process all the same foods that alot of fat people do. Working out is equally important across the board.
I had a roomate that ate 100% junk food. He has a super fast metabolism and was thin. He did work out, but hes still killing his insides even though he was thin.

Lately I have been walking a lot more than usual (daughter just started kindergarten, so instead of driving we've been walking instead). It's only about forty minutes a day, total, and I like it a lot. I've also made it routine to do situps and some weight lifting in the mornings. Can't say I like that as much, though, but I'm sticking to it.
