  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How often do you relax?

I don't relax very easily. I can't put my guard down because I don't trust many people. I feel guilty when I relax or try to relax sometimes too.

Try trusting Jesus as He is safe to be around even Jesus drew aside for some R&R and to spend time with Father God

I have learned that I have to make time to relax......I will treat myself to a good book, a massage (it's worth the money!!!!!) or a facial, or a night out with the girls....or even a bubblebath (which I would love right now....and can't have, as I am living in Korea with only a poor excuse for a shower in my flat).

Yes, duties and obligations can over run your life, but saying yes too much, won't help you or the causes you have said yes to. Actually, when you aer spread too thin, you are of no use to anyone (including yourself).

I think God wants us to take care of ourselves....you can't go out and preach the good news if your body and mind are stressed out.....

In the employment environment I try to remember who I really work for, which has given me a lot of satisfaction for many years. That doesn't mean you ignore yourself or extend to your detriment though. How could we keep one of the biggest commands (love yourself as your neighbor) if we don't take care of ourselves? I'm not talking about over-indulgences either. I'm talking about stewardship. Maintaining. That means spiritual, emotional and physical health. We all have different requirements to maintain that balance. What we're able to do can be diminished when we get out of balance and become unhealthy in any of these areas.

Sometimes it's hard to step back and look at what "you" do. Know what I mean? If you're feeling a deficiency in an area like you're describing - relaxation/taking some time for yourself....you ought to listen to that. And you are! He put those warning systems in place for a reason. His gift to you.

For me, part of my gift is good physical condition. So I take care of myself. It makes everything in life easier and more enjoyable. Everything. Everything including mental awareness, stress management, everything I'm able to accomplish in a day. I feel His joy in it.

Quiet relaxed times for me are early in the morning and late (well not too late but right before bed). I like to listen to audio messages online early in the a.m. That's when I like to read here on the site, too. I'm apt to pick up a book late in the evening. Faith based books are what I read almost exclusively these days.

Today, we've got pretty much the entire day to do what we want. It's going to be the gym, the beach (yessssss), then home to take care of things around the house. Cook dinner, which is also relaxing for me.

Whatever it is.......go at your kick-back time as hard as your work or play time.

I like your attitude, christcentered. It's great to hear how you've got a schedule for the day as to what kinds of relaxation you do at what time of day. I hadn't really considered that before. :) Recently, I've been getting out for evening walks a few times a week. That's been helpful in keeping me centered, and feeling as though I'm doing something good for my body, which consequently helps me mentally as well!

I have a hard time just relaxing. If I'm sitting still I think about things that I could or should be doing. Even if I'm enjoying a hobby, my mind is still racing about other things. About the most relaxing time I have lately is laying in bed reading the Bible. I can stay focused on that pretty well and not worry about anything else.

I used to be able to just sit around and enjoy nature, watch the sun rise or set, etc but now I just can't seem to sit still long enough.

I enjoy relaxing when I can. Some days there are just to many problems to deal with to relax. When I'm able to, I go for a walk, sit outside and just breathe in the fresh air. Sometimes I put my feet up and just listen to some music, light candles. Relaxing is wonderful!
