That's not what has happened, though Presidents Reagan, Bush I and Bush II all proved that your scenario can work.

But is our oil producers who have caused prices to drop through a dramatic increase of availability through shale oil freed from geological formations via fracking. This is all being done on private leases, since the government under Obama has actually reduced federal land leases and is trying to stop fracking. Obama has done nothing to cause the price of gas to drop. In fact, he has done much to attempt to increase it, but free market enterprise has thus far prevailed and defeated his efforts.

Hopefully we can get things in washington more favorable to oil production and see gas prices fall even farther instead of heading towards 4 dollars a gallon.

Canada taxes gas heavily to help pay for health care and other things. I am sure that some folks in washington have similar ideas on paying for health care for us in mind in the future.

Actually this is not necessarily entirely true. A president with a good relationship with a large oil producing country could convince them to increase their production as to lower the price of oil and with it gas prices typically drop also. It is only when all the oil producing countries are operating at maximum output that he cannot convince someone to increase production. I believe the Saudis increased their oil production around the time of Operation Desert Storm perhaps Bush talked them into it and we have cheaper gas prices during that war than before it.

This tenuous scenerio is possible however it is not so, and the Saudis only helped us because we were invading a sovereign nation for them. So start a war gas goes down in price, great.

2.98 is the cheapest around here, 3.35 is the most expensive around here.

Unleaded petrol in the UK at my local supermarket fuel station is ...........wait for it.......$8.75 a UK gallon which is 4.5 litres per gallon, we price our petrol in litres here and the cheapest I know of is £1.26 a litre for unleaded 95 Octane.

If you are interested cigarette prices will scare you to death, Marlboro cost £8.67 a packet of 20 = $13.89 US.

Who is gonna verify thus stuff the companies whith all the money or the government they are paying off. The affordable care act is anything but affordable, sounds like a bit of newspeak.
