$2.87 yesterday at Sam's Club.

(Actually $2.86 9/10. Why is gas priced in fractions of a cent? Is there any other consumer product sold like that?)

We have a store called "99.99¢ Only" where each item is $0.9999. So they round up and each item is really $1 unless you buy 100 items at a time,

To the gallon, in dollars? Here in Germany?

7.64

Just for a bit of context for other places on the globe.

We Americans really need to stop complaining about our gas prices. They aren't that bad.

I paid roughly $3.73 per gallon today, though I buy premium and have a small tank.

Why should we stop complaiming? We were hijacked into a particular economic model with gas at its center and then the price goes up well out of line with inflation. We have much legitimate reason to complain.

I used to live near a refinery and thought it was extremely odd that our local gas prices were generally higher than the rest of the country

Differing state and local taxes account for the biggest part of these regional price variations. Or so I think.
