Yes, I had one of these on my dining room wall.

Recalling - once on this phone stretching towards our youngest son and saying Is there something you've been meaning to tell us?

It was just a hunch but it worked.

I was only ten and wasn't supposed to be on the phone. I must have picked it up once. My mother very seldom used it.

I was very young, too, when there were party lines.
What a funny thing, huh? How many would like a party line today? lol!

With a party line, you had to wait for the other party to hang up before you could use the phone.
Sometimes you'd have to ask the other party to hang up, so that you could make your call.
Don't know when they did away with them ... but I think it was a good idea!

Note: I think we do sort of still have party lines today ...
as our calls can apparently be monitored by the government, law enforcement, etc ...
but at least it's not our nextdoor neighbor listening to our conversations.
(Least I don't think so!?? lol!)

I remember being thrilled at having push button phones.
My parents bought one to update the other phone, but it looked about the same.

Yes. I remember them from my aunt's house. I always wanted to answer the phone but she would say, no dear, that's not me. Now and again it was the right ring, became a game to remember all the different rings. And some of them were relations living nearby. Fascinated me.
