I just bought myself an NIV Study Bible that I've been wanting for some time. I've had one in the past, but loaned it to someone and did not get it back again. I have had a NASV since I was a little girl, but really like the reference notes in the study bible.

I've also had The Message in the past, but I'm not as keen on that "translation".

So, tell me...how many Bibles do you own and what translations are they? Any particular reason you chose the translation(s) that you have?

Please note - this thread is not to debate which translation is the best or to bash translations that you don't support....I just wanted to see which translations seem to be the most popular. :)

I have a "Message" Bible in my son's room, to read to him every night. I'm not real keen on this translation either, so I'll probably replace it in the future.

I have an NIV Bible in my bedroom to read every night. This is probably my favorite translation to date.

I have a NKJV Bible in my car to use in church. I enjoy the KJV and this is the translation my pastor uses, so it's helpful for reading along with him.

I have a couple of NIV Study Bibles because I've always liked NIV. I got a CEV because I wanted to compare translations and some verses might be easier to read in a simpler language but I haven't used it much. I recently got myself an ESV for church because that's the version my pastor uses and the Bibles in the pews are NIV. I've started using the ESV for my quiet times.

My main is a NIV study bible. I have another NIV that i dont normally use. But i also use www.biblegateway.com which has many of the translations that i can look up passages on, and i use that if i want to look something up, or if i want to cross translationally research something.

I only have 2:

- A black leather-bound NIV, which was an 18-birthday present from my parents. They picked NIV because it's used by our home church and also my university church.

- A small ESV, which I use for daily worship. I bought this because I heard the ESV is a more faithful translation than the NIV, while retaining modern 'understandable' English.

I have a couple NIVs, one I've had for a long time and the other I got to replace it because the first was falling apart, I still use the old one though. I have another NIV that I got when I left the middle school Sunday School class the teacher bought us all a small NIV Bible, I have mine in my car. Then there was a child's NIV I got for saying memory verses back in elementary school.
I have two ESV Bibles as well, one is normal size and the other is a really small one I take to church on Wednesday nights.

I have four. A King James Bible I've had since I was 14, A pocket sized King James Bible I've had a few years, A student NIV Bible I've had longer than my King James and an NIV study Bible.

I used to own an Amplified Bible, but it's long gone. I need to get another one. It's the best translation, IMO.

I have a lot of Bibles, but I'll just tell you the ones I remember off the top of my head:

- The Message
- The Message Remix
- NIV
- KJV
- NKJV
- Joyce Meyer Amplified Bible
- ESV

I have random ones that I've found on the road, in parking lots, etc... but I don't know what translations they are off the top of my head and they're packed in East Texas. :p

I read the Message Remix the most. I like the simplicity and artistic qualities of it.

Those who don't like the Message - will you PM me and let me know why? :p

PS. I really, REALLY want a linear translation Bible that shows both the original Biblical languages and they translate line by line into English. AWESOMENESS! :D

I have two of my own Bibles, both NRSVs. I prefer that translation because, aside from the inclusive language, it is very highly accurate. The university I study at requires all its religious studies students to use the NRSV for that reason - other translations are not accepted. So I figure the university knows what it's doing.

I have four NIV Bibles. One is a devotional Bible, two are reading the Bible in a year type, and one is a study Bible. I only have NIV so far because there haven't been any other translations that I've liked. I wasn't familiar with the ESV translation until I saw some CF'rs start to mention it several months ago. After looking into that translation, I'm thinking of buying an ESV study Bible in the near future.
