I own
Orthodox Study Bible (Septuagint OT/NKJV NT) my primary Bible
KJV
KJV New Testament
ESV Compact (primary on-the-go Bible)
NIV (which i rarely use)

I really like the Orthodox Study Bible and the ESV. I have KJV primarily for historical reasons, lasting 400 years is quite a feat and i reference it occasionally.

I own:
  • A copy of the New Century Version which I bought shortly after converting when I took part in a Bible study group for the first time.
  • A paperback copy of the New Revised Standard Version: Catholic edition, from Ignatius Press, which a priest gave me.
  • A hardcover of the MacArthur Study Bible, which includes the New King James Version along with more notes and cross-references than any other book I've ever seen.
I once had an ambition to read every translation, but then I learned that there are more than three thousand translations out there, so I gave up that idea.

Wow, way to bump an old thread.

My personal and devotion Bible is a very simple NIV one that I got from my Sunday School class when I was 8.

My work Bible is a travel size NIV that belonged to a missionary that was killed in Peru. She gave me a box of books right before her and her family finished their furlough and the Bible was in the box.

Well the only Bible that I ever use is a little NIV that I bought at WalMart like a year and a half ago. But I do pull out my Apologetics Study Bible every once in awhile because it is a really good resource.

But how many total? I'm not really sure. Awhile back, I started buying Bibles really cheap anytime I would go a thrift store. I felt like I was rescuing them :p But the goal was to buy them in order to give them away at some point.

I have four NIV Bibles. One is a devotional Bible, two are reading the Bible in a year type, and one is a study Bible. I only have NIV so far because there haven't been any other translations that I've liked. I wasn't familiar with the ESV translation until I saw some CF'rs start to mention it several months ago. After looking into that translation, I'm thinking of buying an ESV study Bible in the near future.

Well, that^ is no longer accurate. I now have one Bible and it's not any of the listed ones. I gave all of them, except the NIV Quest Study Bible, to Goodwill. The study Bible I gave to my mother.

I felt like one Bible would be easier to transport to North Carolina than 4, especially when I was only reading the one. And that one is also a NIV translation, but it's just a very basic red letter Bible. That's the reason I bought it. I was finding myself getting distracted by devotional and study boxes/notes. Although I'd really like to get a NLT Life Applications Study Bible or maybe the NIV Stewardship Study Bible, which looks really interesting. I'm adding those two Bibles to my Christmas wish list.

I have two Bibles, both are KJV. I use King James Version because A: I personally feel it's the best version to read (so kill me if you don't agree; some people get weird about this such an opinion), and B: It's the only translation that I've ever read and studied (yes, I've read some other translations for various reasons, but for my own personal Bible that I use for my Bible reading each day I only have ever used KJV), I was brought up on KJV and understand it very well...other translations through me off.

I the New Testament in ancient Greek [I don't even know how to read it yet LOL... I'll start Greek in a month though.]. Then I have 4 "whole" Bibles; the NIV, a Swedish translation (Svenska Folkbibeln, 1996/1998) and two Finnish ones (the 1992 one and the 1933/1938 one, of which I prefer the older one).

I think five.

Two old NIVs which are in bad shape and I haven't thrown out, one pocket NIV New Testament (w/Psalms & Proverbs), one Message (I didn't ask for it, I received it for Christmas one year) and the NIV/KJV parallel which is what I'm using now.
