How would you define supernatural ,please ?
Me? I don´t use this word. I don´t have a concept that I signify witht this word.
I would guess that most on this forum know roughly what supernatural means.
I do not really know what people mean when saying "supernatural". That´s the main problem with answering your question "Do you believe in the supernatural". You gave the wind for an example, and I wouldn´t know why to call the wind "supernatural".
I am sorry, i am not so good at giving definition of words.:sorry:
Fair enough, but defining your keyterm would be a prerequisite for me to answer your question in regards to your concept which you attach this term to.

I do not think that the wind is supernatural. Sorry if i confused folk.
Fair enough. So explain to us, please, what you consider the 'supernatural' to be, and why you believe it exists? Moreover, please explain to us why you think the God of the Bible exists. Do you have objectively verifiable evidence, or is it just a 'gut feeling'?
My apologies if you've answered this already.

Dear Wiccan Child,

I hate to but in, but I wonder do wiccans believe there is a supernatural side to the world we live in?

Personnally I have adopted a natualistic/materialistic metaphysical world view, meaning everything that happens in our world, can be understood, or has natural explanations to them.

Some people might say, I think I saw a ghost, to me I would respond and say, I think there is another explanation behind what you saw.

Do wiccans believe the spirits of dead people haunt the Earth? Or do they believe in reincarnation?

I hope you don't mind me asking, it is just that I am curious.

As I told drifter5, that all depends on what you mean by the word 'supernatural'. But if I wasn't so fescious, I'd answer with a cautious "yes".

A position I agree with.

I daresay there is another explanation, but we can't rule out the possibility that they did, in fact, see a ghost. It's a remote possibility, but a possibility nonetheless.

Do wiccans believe the spirits of dead people haunt the Earth? Or do they believe in reincarnation?
We believe that, upon death, we go to the Summerlands: a place to vist the ones we loved in the preceding life, and to chose the lessons we want to learn in the next. The Wiccan view of the afterlife is akin to the Buddhism's Samsara, but the reincarnation cycle is view in a much more positive light than it is in Buddhism. The Buddhist wants to escape Samsara in favour of Nirvana. The Wiccan, by parallel, uses Samsara to aquire experiance and knowledge, before chosing to leave (what we are preparing for is a mystery, but perhaps I will learn upon death).

If I had to give my position of the afterlife, I would probably give the above Wiccan one with a bit of Buddhism thrown in.

I hope you don't mind me asking, it is just that I am curious.
Not at all. It is refreshing to find someone who wants to learn.

If you don't mind me asking, what are your beliefs regarding death and the afterlife?

drifter5: How would you distinguish between two Christians who claim to have the holy spirit indwelled in them, claim to be born-again, etc. if they offer contradictory views? How would you determine which one really has the holy spirit?

In fact, if you thought you had the holy spirit in you, how would you distinguish between thinking that you had it and actually having it? The easiest person to fool is yourself, after all.

Every born- again christian will believe in God, and will KNOW that God exists, as God is living in their heart by The Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit confirms to us that we are born- again christians, giving us assurance of our salvation through Jesus alone.

That doesn't answer the question: how could you distinguish between:

1) you having a psychological incident where you think the Holy Spirit has confirmed that you are born again, and
2) you having the Holy Spirit actually confirm that you are born again.

That is, how could you distinguish between a genuine 'born again' experiance, and a self-delusional 'born again' experiance? What is the relevant litmus test?

God has begun a good work in my heart, preparing me for heaven. I am not all that i will be, but i am not what i was. The Lord is changing my heart. I can see many changes in my life , as a born- again christian. I am aware of Jesus leading and guiding me each day. I know a peace and a joy , that i did not know before. None of this was true before i became a Christian.
