How i know that God does exist.

We are chosen by God , and born again of His Spirit , when God indwells us by The Holy Spirit. When we truely believe in Jesus, and that our Salvation from our sins is through Jesus alone, then God graciously saves us , indwelling us by The Holy Spirit. Every born again Christian has The Holy Spirit living within them. God pardons us because Jesus perfect blood which He shed for us, paid the price that our sins deserve. Ephesians 1, 7 : " we have redemption through His ( Jesus) blood. " Romans 5;9 " being now justified by His (Jesus) blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him (Jesus) ."

Which is something that's always puzzled me: what have I done to deserve the title of 'sinner'?

God works in Christians to help them to desire His will. We are not saved by anything that we do, we are saved by believing in what Jesus has done for us.

Why is it that we have to believe in Jesus before we're saved? Why couldn't Jesus save everyone?

Jesus died for us to rescue us . We can not save ourselves.

We couldn't damn ourselves, either. In the Christian mythos, there is only one omnipotence, and it certainly isn't us. Why would God create a world in which the actions of one mentally retarded woman damns the entire of humanity?

Why would you give thanks to a gunman for pulling his gun away at the last minute? I'd be angry for aiming the gun at me in the first place.

Christians enter heaven not because of any righteousness of our own but because we are now clothed in Jesus righteousness ,through faith in Jesus perfect sacrifice on The cross of Himself for us, and by God's grace to us, (completely undeserved by us). God says : " Believe in The Lord Jesus and you will be saved. " Acts 16:31. Jesus says that anyone who comes to Him, (to be saved ), ( sincerely), He will never turn away. " If you seek Him ( Jesus) He will be found by you. " 2 Chronicles 15:2 . When you become a christian you become a child of God. "See how very much our heavenly Father loves us, for He allows us to be called His Children. " 1 John 3 :1.

God is Holy and perfect in every way, we can not save ourselves. Even one sin would be enough to keep us out of heaven. Only Jesus perfect sacrifice could pay the price that our sin deserves. God's Son Jesus is perfect in every way. Jesus shed blood at The Cross takes away our sin, and cleanses our soul. When someone truely believes in Jesus as their Saviour, at that moment he/ she receives a pardon from God, and God enters his/ her heart by The Holy Spirit. As Christians ,God is living and working in us helping us to desire to do things which please God. It is God,s undeserved kindness (Grace) towards us which saves and keeps us . Once you are saved you become part of God's family, and you can not become unsaved. You were lost but Jesus has found you. Jesus says that no-one can snatch His sheep out of His arms. Jesus is The Great Shepherd who takes care of His sheep. Your name is written in The Lamb's book of life, and your name is engraved upon the palm of God's hand. Christians want and try to turn away from sin, but we still sin every day. It is a daily battle. God says that if we confess our sins to God, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins. Christians will be rewarded in heaven for the right things we do on this earth , and punished in heaven for the wrong things we have done on earth.

If by 'you are right' you mean 'there are no gods', then no, this is not the worst that could happen. Hell may indeed exist, and we are all doomed to go there. Or it may just so happen that disbelief in gods earns you an eternity of bliss, whereas theism earns you an eternity of pain.

So no, the atheist worldview does not create a limit to the worst that could happen.

If the atheist is wrong, then we can only say that gods exist. This tells us virtually nothing about which gods exist, and absolutely nothing about what afterlife, if any, we are destined for.

When I was a Christian (not long ago at all) I would have agreed with you. I would even have said that I knew God exists because the Holy Spirit came into my heart!
Unfortunately, that argument doesn't wash with my any more, since what I thought was the Holy Spirit I can summon up at will, without believing at all, just by doing breathing exercises.
This kind of thing is not evidence - you have to believe already before you get it. It's just like saying that you have to believe in fairies for them to be visible to you. Except it turns out that the person you're talking to used to believe in fairies and thought he could see them, but was really just tricking himself.

You have to remember that a lot of atheists were once theists.
