Who said anything about totally disregarding the Bible?
You did.
Do you find something amusing about my chosen alias. Or do you simply like to jab at your opponents instead of having a conversation?
No, that was a typographical error on my part. I apologize again...sorry.
My God is love. Because Jesus symbolized love, I belive in Jesus.
Amen. So do I. I get accused about not being "loving" by many liberals, and one even referred me to 1 Cor 13...so I went there. I found this in the midst of love's definition:
1Co 13:6 (love) does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
What is unrighteousness and what is truth? If the Bible is true, we have lots to talk about in this area.
Jesus also spoke, or did you not know that?
We're talking about the same Person. Jesus IS God.
Do you take pleasure in laughing at people. Very Christian of you.
Okay, sometimes I do, but hold on to that thought, you do the same thing further on...
Oh, and God laughs at those that reject Him, or is that not very Christian of Him?
Pro 1:22 "How long, O naive ones, will you love being simple-minded? And scoffers delight themselves in scoffing And fools hate knowledge? "Turn to my reproof, Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. "Because I called and you refused, I stretched out my hand and no one paid attention; And you neglected all my counsel And did not want my reproof; I will also laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your dread comes, When your dread comes like a storm And your calamity comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.
Pro 1:28 "Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently but they will not find me, Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the LORD. "They would not accept my counsel, They spurned all my reproof. "So they shall eat of the fruit of their own way And be satiated with their own devices. "For the waywardness of the naive will kill them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them.
Pro 1:33 "But he who listens to me shall live securely And will be at ease from the dread of evil."
I have yet to see any in good taste.
Now we have a legitimate opinion!!
Thats quite a little blanket statement you have there. Not all liberals trash the Bible.
Yes it is. MOST liberals that I've encountered in here do not care if the Bible contradicts their opinions, they, in turn accuse me of "misinterpretation" whereby I say: "hogwash". The liberals I do encounter that argue the "interpretation" bit are never capable of backing it up Biblically (ie: the gay bishop).
Another blanket statement. I dont hate the Bible. I love the parts that talk about Jesus. I just tend to see parts about rapists marrying their victims (Deuteronomy 22:28-29), men forcing imprisioned women to marry them (Numbers 31:1-18), polygamy (Genesis 4:19), incest (genesis 19:32), and smashing babies as ((Isaiah 13:15-16)), rape ((Judges 19:24-25), Judges 19, Verse 25) not coinciding with my moral code. But thats just me.
I'm not using laser-guided munitions here - so if blanket descriptions do not fit, then they are not directed at you.
This is tageted at you though; with reference to the highlighted portions of your above quote I must ask:
Is your morality greater than God's? Honestly. What is the point in that statement!?
No, we just choose not to to belive something blindly.
Here's some more blind stuff for you:
Heb 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
The Greek word for "seen" is:
βλέπω
blepō
blep'-o
A primary verb; to look at (literally or figuratively): - behold, beware, lie, look (on, to), perceive, regard, see, sight, take heed. Compare G3700.
I reckon that if something is "not seen" that subjective viewpoint would then be blinded to that object; ie: "blind". Couple that with "faith" and you have "believing something blindly".
NEXT!
What about me? Im not the one jabbing at people here. Im not perfect by far, but I try to to be arrogant.
There is a difference between arrogance and right. If a person gloats in themselves as the source of knowledge, they are arrogant. If another gloats in something outside themselves (the Bible) as being right, they are NOT arrogant because they are not claiming to have anything of their own, nor are they seeking to gain anything by the gesture.
And I am NOT perfect, my jabs are not meant to hurt...I'm learning too and I'm sorry for jabbing insomuch as it takes from the message. My zeal is for the message, to the point of arguing all else contrary to the message is rubbish.
Validate my point? Take a look at people like Fred Philips, then youll see what I mean.
Who's that?
My mirrors not clogged or covered at all. Is yours?
My mirror is the Bible. What are you using?
I see myself plainly enough through the relection of the lens of love where do you fit in?
Define love. There are many kinds of love, not all of them are good.
2Ti 3:1 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.
I think it could be concidered rude to ask someone that question in a forum like this.
I've asked if you've read you Bible, that is not rude unless I stepped on some spiritual pride that you may be hiding. Here's why I asked; you do not seem to have a strong basis to argue these points, but claim that my interpretation is purely subjective when I quote it for you in black and white.
O that ALL men and women of faith would ask one another if they've read the Bible!!! What a mighty Church we could become!!!
WHY THE OFFENSE!? HOW IS THAT RUDE!?
We stand at the precipice of Hell as billions walk the broad road to destruction daily while we sip our coffee and take offense that someone would challenge us to greater faith!?
WHAT IS THE CHURCH HERE FOR!? TO GLORIFY OURSELVES OR TO GLORIFY GOD!?
Sorry, but I laughted when I read that. You sound like a cheerleader.
I thought you said laughing wasn't christian. You've just broken your own moral code that you've argued is too good for the icky parts of the Word of God.
I'm playing games here...but only to prove a point. You can figure it out on your own I'm certain.
Thanks for the dictionary definition.
Hey, I play by the rules. I define my terms, back up my claims, and argue the truth based on the Word of God.
I meant someone bad as in murder, rape, stealing, etc which I hope to God I never do. I didnt mean bad as in every day bad. Of course Im not perfect, far from it.
It's all the same. There are no differing standards of "bad". That is a man-made line of nonsense by which he/she can excuse small sin from big sin. Look what the Bible says:
Mat 5:27-28 "You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY'; but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
I just cheated on my wife this afternoon when I looked at a picture of Katie Holmes and thought: "whoa!". I neither meant ill to my wife, nor did I even get to meet Katie in person, BUT in my heart I committed the act. I bear the full weight of guilt without uttering a word or making a motion.
2Co 10:12 For we are not bold to class or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves; but when they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are without understanding.
I contest that liberal (most liberals) do this when they form ecclesias based upon notional concepts of subjective relativism rather than the crytal clear holy word of the Almighty LIVING GOD.
I detect the tone of sarcasm here.
No. No sarcasm. I'm tired of seeing people attempt to legitimize sin and tell me that God says it's okay when He does not. Gene Robinson is WRONG to think he can be a gay bishop...that is clearly, CLEARLY sin. It is this relativistic attitude that is prompting these kinds of threads.
I want to see believers asking themselves questions like: "what is sin?" So that we may grow in Christ as FUNCTION as a church is a dying world.
If I need a book to tell me that killing a baby, raping someone, or other such things are wrong, thank Id worry about myself.
You miss the point again. The Bible does not shock the human soul that was made in the image of God that "murder is wrong". The Bible shocks the human soul when it digs deeper into the center of the very being where the thoughts originate long, long before the murder is ever carried out.
Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Heb 4:13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
