did you not read acts 8:16!?

Not to a answer for another person, but what you don't understand is that this is done at one's baptism in various churches. In Orthodoxy, chrismation (think confirmation/laying on of hands- via chrism/blessed oil) is part of baptism.

The priest anoints the recipient with chrism, making the sign of the cross on the forehead, eyes, ears, nostrils, breast, back, hands and feet using the following words each time: "The seal of the gift of the Holy Spirit."

Of course- it doesn't have to be done immediately along with baptism- though that is the standard practice. It is sometimes separated- as in my case.

I can look directly to the book of Revelation and see the opposite of the holy mystery of Chrismation with the Mark of the Beast.

Acts 8:14-18(KJV)
14Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

18And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

At Pentecost, the Spirit just fell, no laying on of hands.:)

I don't see hands mentioned here:

Eph 1:13: In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Or here:

These 4:8: He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.

True, same in Gal 3, they just believed, and had the Spirit and miracles, the blessing of Abraham, was the Spirit 3:14, and we know Abe was by faith, as an example.

oh yeah, acts 8:12-18 tells us!

also:

2 Timothy 1:6-7(NKJV)
6Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
7For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

and it's also christian doctrine:

Hebrews 6:1-2(NKJV)
1Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,
2of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

all you have to do is believe the bible!

Laying on of hands in Hebrews, could be a reference to putting hands on the animals, so the sins would pass into the creature.

No laying on of hands here.

Acts 10:44 While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. 45 And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles. 46 For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared, 47 “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days.

i was in another thread and it appears to me that many here don't even know the bible's definition of a christian!

here's the definition of who a christian is according to scripture:

Romans 8:9(NKJV)
9But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

those who have the indwelling of God's Holy Spirit are His.

a christian!

His "elect"!

so, the question now is, how does one receive God's Holy Spirit?

By believing and being baptized: the "sacrament of faith".

because i believe what the bible says!

2 Timothy 3:16(KJV)
16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Don't believe everything you read just because you choose to believe everything you read.

The biblical texts invites us to think about God .... the text is not God.

Did you not read Acts 2:38?

There appears to be different "portions" of the Spirit. In places the indwelling portion of the Spirit was not available until after Pentecost and yet prior to others were given the outward visible portion of the Spirit.

John 14:15 “If you love Me, keep[d] My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

Through baptism. Rom 6:3-4 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

No newness of life without the Spirit? Then no Spirit without baptism. Baptism is the means of grace by which God elects his own.

Romans 5 New King James Version (NKJV)

5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have[a] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Psalm 32:1 New King James Version (NKJV)

The Joy of Forgiveness

A Psalm of David. A Contemplation.[a]

32 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered.

I think baptism is for Christians in the realm of Christianity, but you guys make it sound like no one can get to heaven without it.

I mean, it sounds like God is wasting His breath in:

Psalm 19
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
[2] Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
[3] There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
