Of course faith is a gift. But we can choose to receive or refuse that gift. Salvation is not by works.
Let me put it this way.
Saving faith makes you respond to God.
If you don't believe God is who He says He is, then you won't respond to Him.
And our response is an action on our part.
If we have responded to God, by accepting the gift of faith he offers, it WILL result in works.
There are all kinds of counterfeits for faith.
There's the "faith alone without works" counterfeit.
There's the "works to earn salvation" counterfeit.
And there's the "if God wants to save me, He will, without any response on my part" counterfeit.
WHat?!?!??
So when you go SOUL WINNING, do you think the average person who gets saved does any work or cares about God?!?!? NO. There is no such thing as "saving faith". It's no where in the bible, come on.
Most of the people won by soul winning don't even show up in church, they continue whatever lifestyle. Yet, they are saved because they believed when the gospel was given. That's what the bible teaches and shows.
It's easy to be saved. It's not a burden, it's not work, it's easy. It's belief, it happens in a moment of time. It's simple.
