i cant believe i read every one of these posts. gay? why did they even bring this up ...the media circus or the homophobic society--which was it? spongebob squarepants never held a baby over a buildings balcony though so he's cool with me. now that guy from neverland..................dunno people........i just dont know.....

I don't watch childish cartoons. = I'm anti-spongebob although i did give it a chance.. just a small one but i still came out of it wondering how many brain cells i lost
oh, and no, I don't think it's pro-homosexual, although i've never watched it long enough to come to my own solid conclusion.

I really don't think that Spongebob is gay. I don't think that the cartoon is that bad. I don't watch it regularly but it is really funny sometimes.

No one said Spongebob was gay. James Dobson expressed concern during inauguration week that a group which promotes tolerance (including tolerance of glbt) had signed up several children's characters to be part of a video for "We are Family Day". Apparently, Spongebob was one of those characters.

The problem wasn't the video or the characters being involved with it, rather he was concerned because another aspect of the group that put the video together is the promotion of gay rignts.

Somewhere between Dobson's speech and the Academy Awards the story got twisted into "conservative Christians claim Spongebob is gay".

Adults read too much into things. I mean come on, a seven year old child is not going to think "I shouldn't be watching Spongebob because he is displaying homosexual tendancies", they would be thinking, "I liked the part where the jellyfish stung Spongebob".

This is almost as bad as the woman who tried to get the names of the children changed in Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree series because they encouraged suggestive giggling. The children in question were Fanny and Dick (Richard).

Does anyone else find this ridiculous?

I think it's so idiotic the people chasing after these sorts of things..... You can find everything in anything if you look long enough. I think he is considered Asexual not gay or male. nothing really concrete though. there is alot of adult humor so as far as kids watching it i would limit what they watch of it. but use your own judgment on that one. I just think he is annoying but still funny

Without reading the whole thread - I don't think Spongebob would've even thought about it. Spongebob and Patrick don't know a lot about many things about life.

I love the show, especially Patrick, everything he does is hillarious (not so much in the first few eps though)

My favourite cartoon however is Fairly Odd Parents, I LOVE it! Cosmo is hillarious!
