I was raised on junk food, so starting to eat healthy for me was a HUGE challenge. It never worked for me until I started giving myself one "off" day a week where I could eat whatever I wanted, and however much I wanted. Since I've done that, it's much easier because I feel like I'm working towards a reward on Friday. It's was never a health issue, because I work out a lot (sometimes too much), but I just wanted to get extra toned.

As far as exercise, I do a lot of running, to keep those Friday Mountain Dews from showing.:) I run about 6-7 miles a day 4 days a week. One day I do weight training for my shoulders, chest, and triceps, one day for my biceps and back, and one day for my lower body.

I choose to exercise, although this isnt always the case, I attempt to make it to the gym at least 1 to 3 times a week (sometimes activities have prevented me from this). This is ideal for me. Also keeping away from too stressful situations. Of course eating healthy, my metabolism is slighty high, so I tend to require more food to maintain my weight. My average weight is between 140-150. More if Im eating more healthy, as in more food, sometimes things are hectic and Ill pass on lunch. Would like to get away from skipping meals. And have regular 2-3 meal if not not more a day. So, for starters, its eating, and eating healthy, exercise, and like key of david said, prayer.

In answer to Miau, proper exercise won't make you lose weight if you're already fairly slim, it'll tone up your muscles instead & give you lots of endorphins which are really good! So do 30mins aerobic as a warmup (don't forget to stretch off, won't be held responsible for injury!) at your fitness club (bike, rowing machine or something) and then do some light weights, just handheld ones. Should make you fitter & not much thinner :) plus the endorphins will make you feel happy!
Thank you Thomas and Ananar. Yes I am slim, so I ust want a body-toning... Thanks for your advice, I expect to go to the fitness-center as soon as possible... I'm just waiting for my friends to finish their lessons! lol

Ironic right now I'm sick....but, typically for me to stay healthy, I do the following (not in order or priority):

1. Pray daily & sing praises/love songs to Jesus.
2. Exercise daily (weightlift 3-4 days/wk, cardio & stretching daily)
3. Eat healthy & correctly for my unique body; no white flour products, no refined sugar, limit processed foods, eat organic as much as possible; limit carb intake
4. Drink plenty of water
5. Properly manage mental, emotional, & physical stresses (prayer & EFT)
6. Get enough sleep. (The healthier I am, the less sleep I need)
7. Resolve relationship stress; keep right relationships.
8. Don't procrastinate what needs to be done. Just do it.
9. Take the vitamins, minerals, supplements my body needs.
10. Spend time daily with my husband & children.
11. Daily devotions to God.
12. Right relationship with God.

Ananar23 - I have had so many trainers tell me that women won't bulk up from using weights (mostly men). But I'll tell you, I'm not sure if its my petite frame or what but I definately bulk up! I hate it! My shoulders get wide and my quads get bulky. I do very light weights, like 5 lb ones, and do high reps so its sort of like cardio. Pilates gives me good resistance training as well.

I eat mostly organic lean protien, veggies, fruits, whole grains, and monounsaturated fats. I try to get a little bit of all of the above at each meal. I take fish oil pills and a multivitamin and I work out four-five times a week.

Laura
Laura,

Keep in mind to bulk up weight trainer/bb'ers usually intake about 1.5grams of protien and 2grams of carbs for each pound they weigh. Could it be possible that you are eating right around this equation? Your diet sounds very good, and maybe thats the problem? Could it be geared more for weight gain then looking slim? No matter what your hormones are like you will not be able to gain weight (ie mass) unless you eat more then enough calories on a daily basis. Check it out,,you might be doing everything right to bulk up and wrong to look slim. Good luck. ;)

I'm a helath nut. I drink only water, I try and exercise a few times a week at the gym, stay away from junk and fast food (except I occasionally give in to authentic taco shops), and take vitamins.

I live in SoCal, so I guess it is easier to find organic food because it seems like a lot of people here are pretty health-conscious. Some of the best food I have ever tasted (especially meat) comes from the organic stores.
