  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How do you know if you have it in you to write? I have written for fanfiction and I do a monthly letter both of which I've had good feedback about. One person said reading my letters made her feel like she had been where I had been.

Also, has anyone here had anything published?

To answer your second question first, I've mostly only had book reviews published so far.

In answer to your first, how does anybody know they can do anything? If you feel satisfied with your work, if other people tell you it's good, and if you love writing, chances are, you can do it.

Note: this is not a foolproof method

They say that every writer is secretly dreading the day they'll be exposed as a fraud.

The letter-writing thing, though, is a good tell--people with natural talent tend to write great letters. Or they did in the days before email and texting, anyway.

Is being exposed the beginning of truly finding what purpose lies within? If one can find the flaw laying quietly in the soul, than it is only a matter of time before success achieved. ~joshuacintron.me

I write fanfiction and poetry and my way of knowing whether or not it's good is whether or not I can read it a while afterwards without having to laugh at how stupid it is. And also getting good marks in a university poetry/creative writing class (the short story I wrote for that was not fanfiction)!
