Wow! Seeing this list reveals just how disconnected I've become from CCM.

I remember some great Petra. I've heard of several others mentioned, but am not familiar with their music.

The five Christian radio stations in this area seem to play the same music that is not remarkably memorable. I am especially annoyed at hearing the same boring songs repeat every 90 minutes.

FFH is likely the most recent addition to my music library (not including independent artists). These are the artists / groups I'm familiar with (I'm dating myself a little)...

Have you tried Pandora? Plug in an artist you're interested in and it'll play songs they consider to be similar from a variety of artists. Although I suspect Pandora takes era into account, so you'd probably just get other artists already on your list. heh. But worth a try anyway.

Otherwise, here are a few tips I've utilized:
1. Read, read, read. I used to read all of the Christian music magazines and they got me hip to many artists thanks to artist interviews, album reviews, etc. Even if you don't have access to the physical magazine, most of them have websites with great information.

2. Listen, listen, listen. Actually, in my investigative heyday the internet wasn't quite the repository of music that it is today, so I'd use the listening stations at the nearby music stores (Christian or not) and could then sample most of the things I'd read about. But today all one really needs to do is pop over to youtube and plug in an artist. (Another useful tool would be if you could get a Spotify invite--legal music streaming, and they have a TON of stuff. Full albums, which makes it a nicer option than Pandora).

3. Find a good forum that is active that shares your musical tastes. This one is pretty dead most of the time, so it isn't ideal. The CCM Magazine forum isn't bad--more active than this one, anyway. There are probably better ones out there, too.

4. Go to a website that gives RIYL sort of suggestions--last.fm lets you search an artist and then will provide "similar artists" underneath that artist's profile blurb--most of their suggestions will probably already be on your list, but on the sidebar it lists last.fm users who have listened to them. Browse their profiles and see if there are some interesting things to discover.

Unfortunately, none of these methods are an easy process... they require a certain sense of dedication and time to utilize.

I usually find "new" music through listening to the local 100% Christian radio station (Rhema FM 99.7, which you can stream online). Specifically listening to 96five's The Hot 25 Countdown (or The Rock Across Australia) and Rhema's youth program The Alternative is where I find "new" artists and music. I say "new" as sometimes they are older music. I heard a great song tonight called Surrender by a band called Flame and listening to that put me onto another artist V. Rose, whose music is so awesome! I don't know where I've been that I haven't heard of either before tonight.

You certainly have some classics on your list: Scott Wesley Brown - I remember listening to some of his songs on cassette tape when I was seven, which is a quite some time ago. I think my parents used one of his songs for their wedding.

I made a Wordpress a while ago when I was searching myself. Hope this helps.
Never give up there is plenty of music out there and in the exact genre you are interested in.

There are several ways to search for Christian music on the internet:

1. A search engine like Google: Learning to use search engines effectively is one of the most important techniques to finding more music. Each search engine has a help or hints section that teaches you techniques to using their search engine better.

2. Christian and DJ forums: Finding these sites and registering as a user is very important since you can ask questions and learn more. Also, surfing deep inside these sites helps you find golden nuggets like the two sites below for example:
Basic site — http://www.fusemix.com
Huge list of Mixtapes/Rap/HipHip — http://www.fusemix.com/en/free/christian-music-downloads/1528-free-mixtape-downloads
OR
Basic site — http://www.goddjs.com
Electronic Dance Music — http://www.godsdjs.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=5&sid=d319967499586affa2240813337233c3
http://www.christianremix.com
http://www.tastyfresh.com
http://www.tuforocristiano.com/foro/
http://www.christianforums.com/f198/

4. Find remix albums of your favorite artists: Beckah Shae, David Crowder, The Fray all have remix albums.

5. Youtube: When you find the video of what you like, use a site like www.video2mp3.net to convert Youtube videos to mp3.
Try looking for “813 DJ” or search for “Christian Remix”.

6. Ask online or read about what others that have asked:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Christian_dance,_electronic,_and_techno_artists
answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110925075442AAAEEJN

7. Podcasts: Listen to artists and DJs play their music live. Sometimes you can download them too.
http://www.podomatic.com

8. SoundCloud: Listen to artists and DJ’s demo their music. Sometimes you can download them too.
http://www.soundcloud.com

9. Mixcloud or Mixcrate

Disclaimer: I believe that Christian music is like the gospel and should be free for everyone to listen too to grow, enhance, nurture or renew their faith. I also believe in supporting your favorite artist or DJ and purchasing their albums or sending them a donation. Doing so also allows you to purchase music directly from the source in it’s intended studio/audio quality.
