How do you distinguish between legit Televangelists and fakes?

For instance, Ill be watching Joyce Meyer or Joel Osteen and feel peace. But if I see or hear Benny Hinn for example I don't feel peace. I don't like judging preachers but I feel like Benny Hinn and some other preachers I saw are charlatans and just in it for the money.

What do you think?

Peace can be deceiving. You can get peace from Christian Science or Scientology, or a psychiatrist who's an atheist.

Jesus said he didn't come to bring peace, but a sword. He brought truth into the world, and it ruffled a lot of feathers.

Matthew 10:[34]- "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.[35] For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.[36] And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.[37] He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.[38] And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.[39] He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it."

If we follow Jesus, we'll end up doing the same.

John 15:20- "Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

2Tim3:12- "Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution."

If any of these televangelists are not preaching repentance, ruffling feathers and suffering persecution, I would not consider them to be true servants of God. I don't care how nice they are, or how good they make others feel about themselves.

John the Baptist didn't prepare the way of the Lord and lead thousands to Christ making people feel at peace. He confronted sin and commanded people to repent.

Does what they SAY "Square" with what the WRITTEN WORD says??

And, of course if one hasn't BOTHERED to find out what the written Word says, then they're FAIR GAME for deception.

Personally I don't bother with any of 'em. I HAVE a Church home, and a pastor who preaches the Word - who needs a TV preacher????

Whatever you may do.. I listen for the anointing that I recognize when I read the Bible and receive insight from the Spirit of truth.

If a minister preaches differently than that, I don't listen to him/or her.

I have found many more ministers/preachers/teachers of God's Word on the internet than the t.v. can offer. Only one minister knows only so much, and speaks a certain way. But the variety of teachings, style and delivery with that anointing is like enjoying all the different flowers, trees, and other varieties of created things.

Hearing only one pastor is like limiting oneself to only one flower. And, really, makes no sense for a forum with so many Christians to give their godly, inspired views on any one question.

Unfortunately there are a few bad apples in the barrel.

I can only imagine how many have found Christ through Television,so I keep the barrel and toss the bad apples out.

As Bob said what they are teaching must be God's word, and I encourage you before you from a opinion
to do your own study of a topic.

One sure sign if they promise answered prayer from God if you send them money turn it off.

i've yet to see any of them preach a gospel anything close to the message of Jesus, mostly a mix between deceived and deceivers and only God can tell the two apart.

If one really focuses on the Gospels (not epistles where so many of these frauds get their ammo) but the Words of Jesus himself, almost every major christian ministry is revealed to bearing little or bad fruit.

Hi Richard... Welcome! But..! I cannot let this go in your comments while (YOU)... being a very active Christian poster with over 25,000 posts and with (10) years on CF forums and (you have yet to see?). You are painting with a very large and broad brush here on the (Word of Faith) forum with some of our favorites that the OP mentioned, mainly Joyce Meyer and Joseph Prince. I suppose that also means that (almost) ALL of our WoF ministers are included in your list along with (almost) All of the thousands of ministers and ministrys in America and the World?

We're a little curious. Who do you listen to (if anyone) that preaches a closer gospel message of Jesus Christ, in your view? And maybe, in your view, there is none!

Is God pleased with your broad brush evaluation of His "anointed" in the following scripture in Ephesians?

Ephesians 4:11-12
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Please be careful here brother? Time as we know it is too short for these kind of idle words.

The Watchman...

Harry...

What do you think?

A genuine ministry will always glorify Christ and will never ask for money. They will also promote the Bible as the sole and final authority for anything pertaining to life and spirituality.

The fakes will be asking for money, they will promote themselves more than Christ, and will add all sorts of gimmics and new age stuff to their preaching. They will also promote emotions and feelings as important to faith, promote prosperity as crucial to successful Christian living. When you hear that sort of stuff, change the channel quickly!!

The last time I checked God is not broke, nor did he command us how big our house should be or what kinda car to drive.
But for those who speak against prosperity,How is your missions fund doing?

Kinda hard to help others while living on barely getting by street.

But as humble are those who speak against prosperity are, they are speaking some what out of the Bible.

Mark: 14. 3. And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head. 4. And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? 5. For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. 6. And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. 7. For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.

This will remain a Word of Faith congressional forum.

How do you know?

When they spend all their tv time begging for money.

When they promise a blessing or answered prayer if you give money.

When the concoct some ridiculous amount of money they want for your seed : example there are 70 x 7 being blessed today when they give 700 bucks I feel it in my wallet.

No true WOF begs for money ours is faith based theology,we do not concoct we speak.

We speak God's word in proclaiming our faith in God's Word.

3 John: 1. 2. Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3. For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. 4. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. 5. Beloved, thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren, and to strangers; 6. Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well: 7. Because that for his name's sake they went forth, taking nothing of the Gentiles. 8. We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth. -

So John wanted above all things his brethren prosper ,and be in good health, as our soul
prospereth.
