In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I go back to where Paul himself wrote to a church to keep to the traditions he had taught them by both Epistle and word of mouth.

Paul saw them of equal value.

Protestants do not.

If you check with RCC or EOC or OOC you will find that their Bishops/Patriarchs have a line of succession going all the way back to an Apostle.
So, you don't recognize the flaw in this assertion. You said there was ONE church that the apostles wrote about then you go on to identify three different churches as that one church. The math doesn't work.
I would then ask if you understand that Matthias had hands laid on him with his ordination in Acts 1. But that would be lengthy because of Sola Scriptura that would argue it. Funny thing Sola Scriptura... it lacks truth because it lacks cohesion.
Yet you find cohesion in the math equation, 1+1+1=1. . . hmmm . . . interesting. :|

The problem does not lie with Sola Scriptura. Problems arise from misrepresentation and abuse of the doctrine.

Show me where Scripture says that the church is the "truth."

You have the offices of deacon, priest and bishop in the NT and Paul telling the Hebrews to obey their elders.

Do you think that ended when the Book of Acts finishes?

Why would Jesus appoint a select few and instruct them, and they would then choose others, and then, guided by the Holy Spirit they go out to teach, and then suddenly it stops?

Do you really think it's whoever has the most numbers is what counts and what identifies the church. Other churches have martyrs, and there will be many more before Jesus returns. Do you think all of those things are specific to your church?

Forgive me..
So, you consider the words “pillar and ground” synonymous with “truth.” Do you really have that much difficulty discerning Scripture? How do you figure that when Scripture says the church is the “pillar and ground” “OF” it’s saying that the Church “IS” truth?

One only has to remember that the Apostles are the 'foundation' of the Church and Jesus talked of the houses built on different foundations for you to realise this.
