  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Haha, I just posted about this problem with my 15-month-old a few days ago. What has worked best for us to try to catch her before she bites. For example, the other day she was playing with her dad and I saw her open her mouth to bite his knee. I said sternly, "No biting!" So she didn't do it. Then she went in a circle and came back and you could tell she was thinking about biting his knee, but she looked at me and didn't do it.

Also, teething is often related to biting. We're fairly sure our little girl is teething. So something cold to chew on a few times a day might help.

I'm not sure for a baby that age. When my daughter was about 18months she began biting and I was at an absoloute loss as to how to stop it. I tried everything.

A friend suggested I bite her back. I know that sounds awful but it worked! I applied enough pressure for it to cause discomfort but not really hurt and then told her "owies!". That way she could feel the effect of a bite and understand why she shouldn't do it to me. I don't know if that strategy would be suitable for a 10month old though.

When young babies bite you while breast feeding a lot of books suggest you growl or shreik. I found that making a loud noise startled the baby and I didn't get bitten for the rest of the feed. I think babies forget what they are doing and just need you to remind them that they are not suppose to be nipping and pulling to look at their big sister when they are suppose to be drinking :)

Good luck with your baby!
