Hi everyone. I've been having a pretty strong struggle with a particular mortal sin that I won't mention for privacy reasons. I could really use your prayers. I'm in tears over the fact that despite the fact I know it's wrong, I keep doing it. :sigh: Please pray for me.

Habitual mortal sins can be extremely difficult to overcome, boy do I know this personally! The only way I was able to overcome it finally was by saying the Rosary everday and going to Mass, Confession, and Communion twice per week.. In what ever you do though, remember to pray first and always, and even though it seems hopeless that you'll ever overcome it, do not dispair but instead keep praying! These are things I'm sure most all of us here have struggled with at some point and even now... I know certain things like to rear their ugly head back at me alot but we gain SO much strength against them by frequenting the Sacraments!

I'll keep you in my prayers also..

I used to struggle with a particular mortal sin. What helped me was a few things. Praying when I felt tempted. Saying the Rosary. Picturing Jesus watching me as I committed the sin. Picturing the devil tempting me to do whatever it was I wanted to do................I'm pretty fiesty about people telling me what to do (I know...big shocker right there ;) ) so if I think of all people that the devil is telling me to do something then I'm sure as heck not gonna follow through with it!

Hi Holly, Remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different to what others have experienced and if it is what I think then I know people who have overcome. Try writing this on a pocket card and keep it on you at all times. Pull it out and read it whenever you think about it or are tempted. Read it out loud to yourself as many times as you need and pray (honest conversation with God).
It is 1 Corinthians 10:13
"No temptation has siezed you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."

I would also like to pray "online" for you and with you and anyone else who is willing to make agreement.

Lord God, I Just want to bring Holly before you now and I stand togeather with her and others before you to ask for a release of these chains that have bound her to this sin. We stand togeather in agreement before you Lord as your addopted children and ask that this particular sin be broken off her life. We ask that she be filled anew with your Spirit and thank You for all You have done in her already. Let her be healed. Lord we come before You and ask all this in the name of your Son, Jesus and thank You for loveing Holly and us all so so much that you gave up so that we could have.
Let this be done and done in the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Amen.

Bless you Holly

Holly you are special You are a child of GOD. JESUS loves you so much. HE is always with you. HE wants to talk with you. You can talk with HIM whenever you want!!

I wish you would talk to a priest!! I wish you would tell the priest your situation and your problem. You need to get baptised!! You need to be able to recieve JESUS sacramentally. You need to be able to go to confession. If i were your priest and you came and told me your story i would find a way to get you instructed and baptised as soon as possible!! If he can't find a way to get you baptised ask him how to overcome your sin? Maybe he or someone he knows could be your spiritual director.

if my memory is correct, at one point you were talking with a priest and he was going to baptise you soon. You stopped going to him cause he was liberal and you felt he wasn't giving you the correct catholic training. You need to be baptised. You can read the CCC and / or learn correct Catholic teachings here. You need to be baptised!! You need JESUS!!

all for JESUS!!

Holly,

I'll keep you in my prayers... Also, we all struggle with sin... please hang in there and know that you are not alone and that God does love you and somehow... the Holy Spirit will help you out... don't lose hope. :crossrc:

The three Hail Mary rule always seems to help me.

The Blessed Mother is a powerful intercessor. Strength is to be found in the grace of God, but one may also receive strength from the prayers of others. Holly, do not hesitate to ask the Blessed Virgin and St. Michael for help - the two of them have helped me through some tough struggles! Also, St. Catherine of Siena is a patron saint of certain temptations, and I have found that she is a wonderful and beautiful Saint as well! :)

One day!?

You mean forever.

Mortal sin casts us into Hell.

Pax Christi,

Malcolm

Yes, one day. That is all that is ever needed.

Yesterday is gone... all we can do is ask for forgiveness, and move on.

Tomorrow is a future abstract, that is never really a reality.

The only day that we live in, is one day... today

Each morning pray for our God to give you the grace, to resist the sin, for this one day. :crossrc:

It does work.

I'd suggest start going to confession ever week. I had the same type of problem and going to confession every week helped me out alot. Now I am rarely troubled with the sin I used to commit, and I commit it even less.

Yes, I probably could.

I'm not baptised so this isn't possible.

Stormy, great answer! :amen: How true it is. We are only given this day. I'm not saying we don't need to plan for tomorrow. But really, this is the only day we have.

One day at a time, sweet Jesus :crossrc: .
