• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I have many personal and financial problems, i am sad all the time, i pray in the morning, in the evening and in between, i listen to christian music, i watch, christian shows on tv sunday morinig, i keep asking god, to come into my life, i pray, and pray, for some kind of comfort and help through all i deal with, but it seems like everything is the same or worse, every day. I believe in god, and his son jesus, i just need a little help, i keep thinking there are many others, that have a heavier cross than me, but i just need some relief, i often sleep, to escape the sad feeling, please answer, or pray for me, and how will i know, when i have found jesus?

Hi, Fisherman2,

If you have come in repentance towards God and in faith in the Lord Jesus, you can trust that He has accepted you. It does not depend on feelings, but on His promise. He is faithful, and you must believe what He says. "He that cometh unto me I shall in no wise cast out" is one of His promises. Another promise we find in Romans 10, vv, 6-11 is that

6 the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above.)

7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Salvation implies fellowship with the Father and the Son through the Holy Spirit, and we can live in this fellowship because we know by His WORD, not by our changing feelings, that He has come to us in salvation upon believing. Don't rely on feelings, but just believe that He is faithful and that He will not leave you nor forsake you.

Now, if we allow sin in our life we may drift away from Him and break our fellowship with Him. I know that. I have had to go back in sorrow after being unfaithful to the Lord Jesus by setting my eyes on things that He could not take part in, other objects. Not exactly what would be called gross sin, but putting other things in life as my object instead of my Saviour and Lord, not to talk of inner corruption. So then the sense of His presence may be weakened or disappear and a void ensue, and we have to seek His face leaving aside all the things that would make our heart depart from Him.

Read the Scripture. Go first and read John, read Romans, read Ephesians, with prayer to the Father to show you what He has already given you in His Son. And just rest in Him, moment by moment.

With my best wishes of joy in the Lord Jesus, a joy that is independent of changing feelings but that is seized by faith.

It's In The Valley I Grow
Author Unknown

Sometimes life seems hard to bear,
Full of sorrow, trouble and woe.
It's then I have to remember,
That it's in the valley I grow.

If I always stayed on the mountain top,
And never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God's love,
And would be living in vain.

I have so much to learn,
And my growth is very slow.
Sometimes I need the mountain tops,
But it's in the valley I grow.

I do not always understand,
Why things happen as they do,
But I am very sure of one thing,
My Lord will see me through.

My little valleys are nothing,
When I picture Christ on the cross.
He went through the valley of death;
His victory was Satan's loss.

Forgive me Lord, for complaining,
When I'm feeling so very low.
Just give me a gentle reminder,
This it's in the valleys I grow.

Continue to strengthen me,
Lord, And use my life each day
To share your love with others,
help them find their way.

Thank you for valleys,
Lord, For this one thing I know
The mountain tops are glorious,
But it's in the valleys I grow!!

 Greetings Fisherman2
Turn your eyes away from circumstances and look to Jesus and things will start to look better.

Fisherman what you wrote looks good as far as you went in describing your lifestyle but you failed to mention if you are being successful in eliminating sin from your life.Once you're making real progress in that area, then begin to regularly read a bible translation you can understand well and pray regularly for the baptism of the Holy Spirit.(John 3:3-9)When you receive it,God will come to you through the Holy Spirit, and you will be granted salvation at that time.Don't worry, you'll know when it occurs. It's an intensily emotional experience and for the first time, you'll find yourself in a personal relationship with Jesus.

Dearest Fisherman2,
Faith is trusting HIM. Trusting in His Word and all the promises He has made for His believers. When you have faith in Him, this is what moves Him. You are suffering from depression it sounds like. Sleeping a lot to escape is a sign of depression.
Dear one, if you have confessed you are a sinner and that you NEED Jesus as your Savior and that you accept Him as your Savior and as the True Son of God. You have found Jesus. What I think you are asking is why don't you have a more personal relationship with Him? If this is the case realize, it takes time to build a personal relationship with someone. If you are serious about Jesus then show Him you are. Keep reading and studying His Word. This will build you up in Him. His Word is life to your spirit! Sometimes we get in a rush to see everything right now..... Remember things must happen in HIS timing not ours. When we get out of His timing for something things will go haywire. I know, been there, done that.....:(
Relax dear one and enjoy the experience of getting to know this Wonderful Lord Jesus! {{HUG}} If you have more questions that you would like to ask feel free to PM me anytime.
Jesus bless my Brother with Your abundant blessings. Surround him with Your love and Your peace. Make provision for all of his needs. Thank you for his life and all the gifts he brings to the Body of Christ.
