How do I know what God's plan for me is?

Sometimes the answers to our questions are complicated. The Lord might have to teach you several things before he can explain to you what your purpose is. In the meantime, love the Lord with all your heart, mind, and soul, and love your neighbor as yourself. That ought to serve a purpose.

Thank you! Maybe computers are my purpose it just seems unlikely that God would create me to help people with their computers. Especially when he might think that computers are well evil? People Idolize and worship them and spend time on them that they could be spending time with God. Not to mention all the violent video games out there and the ones containing magic and stuff.

Computers are vital to the global economy. Those who produce food and clothing depend on them. People can not get enough good computer support. There are many tech jobs going unfilled. These are for people with specialized computer skills.

There are charities that feed and clothe the poor. Setting aside money for them may help. It is difficult to find good charities as some skim off much money before any is given to the poor. There is also a problem with people who are not indigent applying for charity depriving the poor. During the foreclosure crisis, I saw a news story about a person with BMW and a large custom built home stopping at a food bank and trying to fill his trunk with free food. He claimed he was poor due to the crisis.

Some people can find God through studying the word and practicing it. An adulterer might not be capable of preaching a good sermon against adultery. When a person can do and teach a good thing, the person becomes more valuable.

Easiest way to know God's will for one's life is like this: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and not lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He'll make your paths straight." Easier said than done, but once that bond develops with the Lord knowing His will is as easy as breathing .

As someone who works with computers I would not dismiss that as a vocation. Fundamentally computers are about the management of information and the solving of problems. Why is that a bad thing. We support the Christian purposes of stewardship (solving problems and managing solutions for people), honesty and security (information transparency helps keep people honest and information security protects peoples property and secrets from fraudsters, spys, hackers and thieves) and (creativity and enabling)we can create new and interesting tools which automate the boring jobs and sets people free to concentrate on the rare and truly value adding tasks that make a difference, community (we bring people together from all over the world and enable them to work together on projects and tasks). Also while many other professions are tainted by all sorts of politically correct rubbish the IT guy can get away with saying what he thinks so long as he solves the users problem. He gets to meet people from all over the world and the company while others are consigned to their own little cubby holes or departments. So overall computing is not that bad a way to serve God in the workplace. There are even witness opportunities in IT although I must admit most IT people themselves are smart alecs who think they know better than God and you have to tread carefully with some people.

To show Christ through your actions and love for others, that matters as you know. To share the Good News and what He has done for you.

We know His plan for us, that whosoever believes in His only begotten Son Christ Jesus should never perish, but have eternal life.

But whether you are a fisherman, tax accountant, computer builder, road worker, nurse, etc., this is not significant so long as you are able to follow Christ as you do that whatever.

Dear mmbattlestar. How do we know God`s Plan for us? We ask God in prayer, and we keep asking. God is Love, and God wants loving sons and daughters. In Matthew 22: 35-40: we are told:" The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. The second is like it: love thy neighbour as thyself." In verse 40 we are told: On these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." We have to give up all unkind behaviour and words, we have to treat everyone we meet, and everyone we know, as we would love to be treated. Love is very catching, and love will always help us, love is strong and lasting.
The Bible tells us: ask and you shall receive, we ask God for Love and Joy and always true behaviour. God will give us and we then thank God and become the men and women which God wants us to be, loving and caring, and always compassionate. Jesus died that we might live and be the men and women which God wants us to be. Love is very catching, and we ask God in Matthew 7:7-10: Ask and we shall receive, then thank God and share all love and joy, and compassion with all around us. God will see our loving and caring, and God will BLESS us greatly. Why not try it, mmbattlestar? Love will ALWAYS help us and be victorious. I say this with love. If you are good at computers ,I am not ,but start there .You have to start with what you are given and do it with a good heart . I have a purpose beyond my job and family and it is a bit of a surprise .My belief in God and Jesus is orthodox ,but when I becamse ill ,very some years ago I was pointed to study what most christians would berate me for ,but they are wrong and ignorant .

I use my imagination ,always have to reach principles ,in other words like Jesus
did teach by parables etc .

As for the computer ,what is it really ? It is a plastic box ,and when it is not connected to the electricity ,and then to the internet ,neither of which can be seen ,it is just that .
We are just a body of flesh ,nothing more unless God breaths life into us , and we cannot connect into life beyond , without the Holy Spirit who comes through Jesus . This is helpful for those seeking to see God as designer ,a modern bible if you will .
People are waiting for death to be saved ,but life eternal has already begun for many ,not perfect life yet ,but eternal life is already here ,for those who have been enlightened .
Perhaps you can be one of them ,but you will need more patience ,more faith and more humility (read more of the bible )and don't be afraid to study beyond
