• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

True, the prayers could end up hurting us in the end, but what about people who pray to have their child or friend be healed and the friend is forever afflicted or they die? How would that "be the best outcome for us"?

I'm going to be honest, I cannot answer that question without ending up on FSTDT. I am not God and the world is a very unpredictable place. What could make perfect sense to us could end up causing more damage than it would solve.

I can take comfort that one day we will learn why things have happened the way they did. There may be many twists and turns to life's stories and it would be foolish to criticize the script until we read the surprise ending.

Have you ever watched the movie 'Bruce Almighty'? The main character gets to be God for a short amount of time on the condition that he has to answer everyone's prayers. After Bruce finds the prayer part to be overwhelming, he decides to give an automatic 'yes' to all of them. It ended up causing riots because multitudes of people prayed to God to win the lottery, resulting in tons of winners each receiving like fourteen cents each.

Point is, God can see how things will turn out if every prayer on our whim is answered. It could end up hurting us in the end. I often get angry at Him for not making me a gifted and talented neurotypical like my sister. Well, if I did get what I want, how would I use it? I could have ended up having a major superiority complex and campaign for vile things like eugenics and social Darwinism for all I know. Perhaps God sees a way to help you that you have not thought possible. He has lead you to this forum which desperately wants to help you find peace and happiness.

Another thing too, you have made it this far with your problems. God has shown that he has helped you get this far with your faith. Look at Kim Kardashian, she has everything. Looks, fame, fortune, popularity, etc but as soon as she got mugged, she acted like she got PTSD. It shows she was indeed a weak person who was too used to getting whatever she wanted. You, on the other hand, have dealt with much bullspit in your life and you are a stronger person than her.
Yeah I get what you're saying

The only thing I can think of is... That they'd be in a better place.

His help...especially if I ask for it time and time again and if he says he will help. But I'm no different than anybody else suffering here...so what makes me special.

"Help" is too general a term. Jesus asked the blind man: "What do you want me to do for you?" (Luke 18:41). Do you have an answer to that question?

Id love to believe god loves me but it seems like a lie and a slap in the face when the opposite is happening. That's like telling a starving child in Africa god loves them all while they're still hungry and can't eat.

My friend just texted me that she just got a job, it hurts so much because I wanted and needed work and couldn't get any.... I was so close to having one....I had orientation for one job..but couldn't get there bc I have one car that I share with my mom... And because of her schedule,,, id only work 2 days out of the week... I love my friends but seeing them have fun with life and have everything good happen to them makes me realize how shxttty my quality of life actually is and makes me want to kill myself.so he can stop tormenting me and torment someone else at least..idk.. This isn't worth it.

No matter what, don't even think about killing yourself. There's always something to live for, and if you need to reach out and talk to someone, seek out anyone who will listen and offer you comfort.

I can tell you are a good person. And don't think God hates you or anything because bad things are happening. It's not favoritism, or everyone who believes would have great lives. Both good and bad things happen to good and bad people. It's just the way life is.

Tommorow morning when you wake up, kneel by the side of your bed and pray. Ask God that only his will be done in your life. Don't ask for anything and don't try and figure anything out. Let's see tomorrow evening how your day turns out, I would love know.

What kind of a friend are you to put your own needs before that of your friend? If your friend is suicidal why are you not by her side helping her ?would you rather talk about yourself and not pay any attention to her? Take her out for a long walk and show her the breath of life, let her feel some fresh air within her lungs.
Give her some hope in her soul, let your woes subside until your friend is safe.

You should be ashamed of yourself for assuming! In response to what you said," just ask gods will be done" I said no..because I need help and so does she... As I've gone through these anxiety attacks..I've felt suicidal as well...just scroll up and you'll see my post, I never put her beneath me. As for my friend, she's a friend I met online but I've known her for 2 years, talk to her on the phone and she lives 2 states away...so I can't physically be there for her. I've tried texting her and she won't answer...so again shame on YOU for assuming my situation and trying to flip it all on me. Now I should ask, what kind of christian are you? So quick to just blame that you lack empathy...you completely attacked my character...again what kind of christian are you? I've tried to help her! And now I'm sure you won't reply ...that's probably for the best.

Why would I not reply you asked a question and I answered it. If you don't like the answers, don't ask the questions in an open forum, we have specialist forums for mental illness and anxiety attacks. Speak to one of the pastors in the relevant section. If you want to know what we think then ask away, I love answering questions and giving my opinion.

This is a very, very good point. The rewards people appear to have in their earthly life are temporary.

I know Job is there for situations like this - to reflect on a bigger picture.

However, for depressed people the Enoch story may be counter-productive in a few ways:

1. Job was immensely blessed with children. He had 10.

2. Job had a wife (many peoe have no friends or support at all.)

3. Job was a millionaire. He had tens of thousands of animals; a cow today, for example, goes for $1000 - $1500 per animal. Job had tens of thousands.

4. Job, through a of this, still remained close to God (which is a big deal when some many centuries later the literal word of God said it was easier for a rich man to pass through the eye of a needle...)

So, when we bring up Job in trying to uplift depressed people, those four huge points cause conflict with the person, their relationship with God, and the hope for which they should believe.

It should be easy to see that an average person isn't Job, because Job himself wasn't average.

You're being. Rude...if you're being rude of course I won't like your answer that's anyone. It has nothing to do with asking on a public forum...however I will never tolerate disrespect, I don't care if I am online..I still expect that basic decency..especially if I'm giving it. Like I said, you jumped to conclusions...you didn't know my friend was a state away and I couldn't physically help her.,,you just wanted to shame and blame me...and you're not owning up to that part. I wonder if you'll reply and own up -_- probably not -_-

Maybe you are depleting yourself spiritually Far Side. I see you have 900 messages; more than 1/3 of them were likes of some sort. I am guessing the majority of the messages and likes are from Christian threads/topics (and not necessarily the C&E forums, for example.)

Maybe you need to retreat and recharge. I think Christ "had" to do this several times. He would go off and pray (recharge) sometimes without telling His disciples. As a human constantly saving, healing and ministering to fallible creatures can be extremely taxing. He needed to "go into His spirit" and recharge.

Also, maybe you have a lot of what you are looking for? Maybe you have tremendous faith, love, care and want for God, but you don't realize it because your calibration system may be off.

I had similar problems and still do, but after a long speech, something hit me when a family member (who doesn't really care about me enough to try to give me perspective) casually suggested, "Maybe you already have the [saving] faith you are asking for.

I 100% agree that an answer would be nice, though. It doesnt even have to be audible; just something that shows, "Hey, I am imprtant to Him - and not just an annoying afterthought that should be lucky to be born with the chance of salvation, while He attends to His biblical Heroes/favorites."

This is where your answer from Him comes in, Far Side. We are your brothers and sisters; He is answering you through us.

In a similar way, siblings often speak on behalf of their siblings to their parents - especially for the sake of helping. Sometimes the parent seems like s/he is ignorant of a child, until one of the children brings up something.

Not that I think God needs to be reminded, but I think He likes to see us remind Him, as it means we are paying attention to His promises.

And, quite frankly, this is not a shameful feeling you are having. Then entire body of the church (not edifice, people) are supposed to be there for you and people like you. We are not doing a good job as a church in helping our brothers and sisters in this WAR.
