What is repentance ?

Remember, then, whence thou hast fallen, and reform, and the first works do; and if not, I come to thee quickly, and will remove thy lamp-stand from its place -- if thou mayest not reform;

In answer to your thread title "how do I actually become saved?"

Combine all these scriptures:
  1. Hear the word - Romans 10:17, Matthew 7:24-27
  2. Believe the word is true and believe in Jesus - Hebrews 11:6, Mark 16-15-16 (not faith only), James 2:24, John 12:42.
  3. Repent of your sins and transgressions - Act 2:38, Acts 17:30-31, Luke 13:3.
  4. Confess Jesus is the Son of God - Matthew 10:32-33, Acts 8:36-37.
  5. Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and to place you in Christ so Jesus can add you to His church and translate you into the Kingdom of God: Acts 2:38, Acts 2:47, Colossians 1:12-14.
    • Purpose: Acts 2:38, Mark 16:15-16, Acts 22:16, 1 Peter 3:20-21, Acts 10:48, John 3:5; Luke 7:30. Read 2 Corinthians 5:17 with Galatians 3:27.
    • Action: Romans 6:3-5, Acts 8:36-38, Mark 1:9-10, John 3:23.
    • Infants need not to be baptized: Matthew 18:3, mark 10:13-15, Ezekiel 18:20, Romans 14:12.
  6. Remain faithful until death - Revelation 2:10

1. God says in Ephesians 2:8-9: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. God is saying that it is not our doing that earns us salvation, but only Jesus' doing. But God says several times in the Bible that I must believe in the Lord, Jesus to be saved. Isn't believing in Jesus my doing? And I'm a sinner, so I don't trust my own doing. What if, because I'm a sinner, I don't believe in Jesus in the future?

Too many times do "faith only" believers use this passage. They actually stop there at verse 9 but don't think to add in verse 10

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

To explain it with a little scenario...

Your friend has a free gift for you. He calls you and asks that you come by and pick up the free gift.

Q: Is the gift free?

Q: Will you receive the gift simply by saying its yours even though you didn't drive to your friends house to get it?

Q: What did you have to do in order to get the free gift?

Flip this around in terms of salvation...

Christ has offered us the free gift of "grace", will we get up, walk over, and grab it?

Mark 16:16 specifically states, that those who believe AND are baptized are saved.

Matthew 28:19-20 specifically tells us how disciples are made. Teaching them the gospel, baptizing them, and teaching them to observe all things.

Paul was not saved until he was told to be baptized. Otherwise if Paul was saved before then, he wouldn't have needed to wait in the city blind. God also would not have had to tell Paul to wait in the city to be told "what he must do"
Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

It sheds light on a previous chapter, Acts 8:36-38, when Philip was done teaching the Ethiopian, the Ethiopian was clearly taught enough to stop the chariot by water and ask Philip about being saved.

Repenting is just as important, as the Jews and other people from different nations in Jerusalem, were told to repent AND be baptized, Acts 2:38.

Faith only belief implies that one does not need to repent so long as they confessed and believe in Christ only with their mouths, they are saved. This is wrong.

Perhaps the most damaging scriptures to "faith only" are James 1:22, James 2:14-26, and Hebrews 11 combined with James 2:14-26.

Just saying you believe without following the gospel commands brings Matthew 15:8 to mind.

To not obey the entire gospel in grabbing your free gift will lead to spiritual suicide, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9.

Many people keep saying, "the gospel is the good news". This is wrong. The definition of the gospel is stated in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. It is the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.

So how do we obey the death, burial, and resurrection?

Romans 6:3-5 tells us how.

If we love Him, we will do His commands John 14:15 and John 15:14 (ie Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38).

2. Based on question 1 above, is there anything in the Bible that could give me confidence that I won't lose salvation in the future?

Remain faithful unto death, Revelation 2:10.

Run the race til completion (your death or Christs coming) Hebrews 12:1-3.

See also 1 Corinthians 9:24-27.

3. What do you all think about "once saved, always saved"? If I am saved now, will I always be saved? Can my salvation be taken away from me? Below are two links regarding this topic, one from gotquestions.org and wels.net . gotquestions.org (a very popular online Christian FAQ) says that once you are saved, you are always saved. The link provides a lot of Bible references too. But wels.net , also providing a lot of Bible references, says that a Christian can fall from the faith. The links are right below:

https://www.gotquestions.org/once-saved-always-saved.html

https://wels.net/faq/position-on-once-saved-always-saved/

Could you give a biblical answer on which of the links, if any of them, is correct?

I see from scripture, once saved always saved is false. Why?

Because the writer of Hebrews warned Christians not to turn back to their old ways in Chapter 6. To do so, even if they obeyed for 30 years, would render their salvation lost. Hebrews 6:4-6

Also 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, quite specifically states, those who "obey not the gospel" as included into the ones that will be "punished...everlasting".

In addition, the many warnings upon Christians in the churches in Revelation chapter 2 and 3. They were threatened by Christ to repent and obey or face consequences of judgement against them for sins He defined to them.

Gotquestions website follows denominational teachings. I believe they follow more along the lines of Baptist teachings, but dont quote me on that as its been a while since reading their site. I would strongly disagree with their belief in this matter.

I dont know much about Wels website, but I would agree based off the scriptures, that they are correct in saying it is wrong.

Hello,

I don't feel very motivated in life because I just don't know what could happen in the future. Right now, I do believe and love God, but because of my great sin, I feel that in the future I might fall away from God. I'd just like to know what any of you people have to say about the questions below. If any of you could answer these for me, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

To be honest, I'm kind of in panic mode. I don't want to do good works my entire life just to be confident that God would be pleased with me. I know God loves me. But with the unanswered questions above, I don't know if I will love God in the future. I ask that you take the time to answer these questions when you get the chance. Thank you again!

Sure I can help you sort this out. Before I can help you. I need to know your understanding of how a sinner is justified before a Holy God? Answer to the best of your ability.

I had similar wonders and fears for years. Once our pastor talked about salvation and he talked about Ephesians 4 "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption".
He emphasis is on "sealed". Basically, we are "sealed" to be God's children and we received his Salvation once we believe in Christ - and nothing/no one can separate us from him.
Also look here, I just found it online -
Seems to explain it well

I believe that justification of a sinner is by faith alone (Romans 1:17). Right now, I do believe and love God. Right now, I am sorry for my sins, but I know that God has forgiven my sins. I know that God loves me and wants me. It's my future that I'm worried about. That's why I asked these 3 questions, because the answers to them can be very controversial. I'm already seeing that there are plenty of different answers. I'd like to see what you think. Thanks!

No keeping anything , either you are born again or not , you can't be half born or half unborn .
Galatians 2:16 King James Version (KJV)
16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

John 6:47
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”

King James Version (KJV)

Present tense not future tense .
The thing to be is not born again. It is rather born from above. Sanctification is necessary on a daily basis lest one lose their salvation.

( 7 ) : ” THE GREATEST FALSE TEACHING OF THE CHURCHES ! “
August 17, 2017gigoboy777 Leave a comment
The standard teaching in the present day churches is that yes, we cannot save ourselves : That the only thing we have is our own free will, to either choose or reject God . Well does the Bible teach that we choose God of our own free will ? JOHN 1 ( 13) : ” Which were born NOT OF THE WILL OF MAN , BUT OF GOD ! ” ROMANS 9 ( 16 ) : ” So then IT IS NOT OF HIM THAT WILLETH , BUT OF GOD . ” JAMES 1 ( 18 ) : ” OF HIS OWN WILL begat he us with the word . ” So according to the Bible : It is NOT OF MAN’S WILL , BUT ONLY GOD’S WILL ! EPHESIANS 1 ( 11 ) : ” Him who works ALL THINGS AFTER the counsel of HIS OWN WILL . ” : ALL THINGS AFTER HIS WILL LEAVES NO PLACE FOR OUR OWN SUPPOSED FREE WILL ! So this teaching that man has his own free will is completely contrary to scripture : It falsely exalts man with power that he in truth does not have. Well you might ask : Why did not God not give man his own free will ? HEBREWS 12 ( 2 ) : ” Looking unto JESUS , THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH ! ” : So CHRIST IS THE SOLE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH ! THERE IS NO ONE BETTER QUALIFIED THAN CHRIST TO TRAIN US : CERTAINLY NOT OURSELVES : SO THIS IS PRECISELY WHY CHRIST DID NOT GIVE US A FREE WILL , BECAUSE ONLY CHRIST CAN DO A PROPER JOB ! Only CHRIST knows what things we need to learn , we do not know these things : so what in the world would we do with a free will if such a thing existed : Answer : We wouldn’t have a clue , which is of course why CHRIST did not give us a free will : WE ARE JUST CLAY IN THE GREAT POTTERS HANDS , and thank God , no one can do a better job then God! PHILIPPIANS 1 ( 6 ) : ” He which began a good work in you will continue it unto the day of CHRIST . ” : He began it , not us , and he will finish it not us ! PHILIPPIANS 2 ( 13 ) : ” For IT IS GOD WHICH WORKETH IN YOU , BOTH TO WILL AND TO DO OF HIS GOOD PLEASURE ” : GOD NOT US ! This is solely the work of God : to say that man has any part in it is falsely exalting man : usurping the work of God and falsely placing it in man’s hands : an obvious blasphemy against God , and it is widely taught in the mainstream churches, and needs to be exposed for the blasphemy that it is ! EPHESIANS 2 ( 8-10 ) : 8 : ” For by grace are you saved through faith, AND THAT NOT OF YOURSELVES, it is the gift OF GOD ” 9 : ” NOT OF WORKS LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST ” 10 : ” For we are HIS WORKMANSHIP ” Nothing of ourselves! ROMANS 13 ( 1 ) : ” THERE IS NO POWER BUT GOD ! ” No room here for man to have his own power of free will : No power but God. PSALMS 65 ( 4 ) : ” Blessed is the man whom THOU CHOOSEST AND CAUSEST TO APPROACH UNTO THEE . ” : God chooses his elect , and God causes them to come to him by his call, not us by our own supposed free will : totally unscriptural ! Choosing God would of course be a good thing to do, and if we really did choose God of our own free will we would be at least partially righteous, because choosing God would be a good thing, but such is definitely not the case as the Bible clearly says there are non righteous because we do not have the power to come to God of our own will as CHRIST clearly says in JOHN 6 ( 44 ) : ” No man can come to me unless THE FATHER DRAWS HIM . ” : ONLY THE FATHER CAN DRAW HIM : HE CANNOT COME OF HIS OWN POWER ! STOP BLASPHEMING AND SAYING THAT MAN SAVES HIMSELF BY HIS OWN FREE WILL WORK OF CHOOSING GOD : IT IS TOTALLY AND SOLELY THE WORK OF GOD !

I see that you are a Lutheran. I LOVE Luther, I learned so much from Luther! My all-time favorite book from Luther is the commentary on Galatians. IMHO, that is the best commentary on Galatians out there.

Assurance is what you need to study. God's Promises will be fulfilled, and have been fulfilled. Check this out:

Calvin on Assurance: Justification not to be confused with Sanctification

"...he who imagines that in order to obtain justification he must bring any degree of works whatever, cannot fix any mode or limit, but makes himself debtor to the whole law.
Therefore, laying aside all mention of the law, and all idea of works, we must in the matter of justification have recourse to the mercy of God only; turning away our regard from ourselves, we must look only to Christ. For the question is, not how we may be righteous, but how, though unworthy and unrighteous, we may be regarded as righteous. If consciences would obtain any assurance of this, they must give no place to the law. Still it cannot be rightly inferred from this that believers have no need of the law. It ceases not to teach, exhort, and urge them to good, although it is not recognized by their consciences before the judgment-seat of God. The two things are very different, and should be well and carefully distinguished. The whole lives of Christians ought to be a kind of aspiration after piety, seeing they are called unto holiness (Ephesians 1:4; 1 Thessalonians 4:5). The office of the law is to excite them to the study of purity and holiness, by reminding them of their duty. For when the conscience feels anxious as to how it may have the favor of God, as to the answer it could give, and the confidence it would feel, if brought to his judgment-seat, in such a case the requirements of the law are not to be brought forward, but Christ, who surpasses all the perfection of the law, is alone to be held forth for righteousness." - John Calvin, Institutes III, xix, 2–3.

The Works of Faith and Assurance

by Martin Luther

“For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue” (2 Peter 2:5a). Saint Peter admonishes them to give evidence of their faith with good works. Since such a great blessing has been given to you through faith that you truly have everything that is God’s, he wants to say, add to this, be diligent, do not be lazy, supplement your faith with virtue; that is, let your faith break forth before the people, in order that it may be helpful, busy, powerful, and active, and may do many works and not remain sluggish and sterile. You have a good inheritance and a good field. But see to it that you do not let thistles or weeds grow in it.

“And virtue with knowledge” (v. 5b). In the first place, understanding, or knowledge, means to lead one’s outward life and practice the virtue of faith in a sensible manner. For one should restrain and curb the body, in order that it may remain sober, alert, and fit for what is good. One should not hurt it too much and slay it, as some mad saints do. For even though God loathes the sins that remain in the flesh, yet He does not want you to slay your body on this account. You should check its wickedness and wantonness, but this does not mean that you should destroy or injure it. You must give it food and necessities, in order that it may remain healthy and alive.

In the second place, understanding also means to lead a fine, sensible life and to act judiciously in external matters, in matters of diet and the like. One should not do anything imprudently, and one should not give offense to one’s neighbor.

“And knowledge with self-control” (v. 6a). Self-control applies not only to eating and drinking; it is moderation in all circumstances of life, in words, deeds, and bearing. One should not live extravagantly. Excess in adornment and dress should be avoided, and no one should make himself conspicuous by being haughty and arrogant. But Saint Peter refrains from fixing a rule, a standard or aim, pertaining to this …. In Christendom it will not do to issue laws, so that there is a general rule pertaining to self-control. For people are not alike. One is strong, another is weak by nature, and no one is always as fit in every respect as the other person is. Therefore everyone should learn to know himself, what he can do and what he can stand.

“And self-control with steadfastness” (v. 6b). This is what Saint Peter wants to say: If you lead a temperate and sensible life, you should not suppose that you will live without trials and persecutions. For if you believe and lead a good, Christian life, the world will not let you alone. It must persecute you and be your enemy. You must bear this with patience, which is a fruit of faith. “And steadfastness with godliness” (v. 6c). This means that in our whole outward life, in what we do or suffer, we should conduct ourselves in such a way that we serve God and do not seek our own glory and advantage. It means that God alone must be praised by what we do and that we must act in such a way that one can see that we do everything for God’s sake.

“And godliness with brotherly affection” (v. 7a). This love extends to both friends and enemies, also to those who do not act in a friendly and brotherly way toward us. Thus here Saint Peter has expressed in a few words what belongs to a Christian life and what the works and the fruits of the faith are, namely, knowledge, self-control, patience, a God-fearing life, brotherly affection, and kindness to everybody.

“For if these things are yours and abound, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (v. 8). That is, if you do works of this kind, you are on the right path and have a true faith, and the knowledge of Christ is active and fruitful in you. Therefore see to it that you do not make light of this. Hold your body in subjection, and do for your neighbor as you know what Christ has done for you.

“For whoever lacks these things is blind and shortsighted and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins” (v. 9). He who does not have such a supply of the fruits of faith gropes about like a blind person and lives in such a way that he does not know what his plight is. He does not have the true faith …. Therefore he goes along and fumbles in uncertainty, like a blind man on the road. He forgets that he has been baptized and that his sins have been forgiven. He becomes ungrateful and a lazy and careless person who takes nothing to heart and neither takes hold of nor tastes such great grace and blessings.

With this exhortation Saint Peter wants to incite and urge us who believe to do the works with which we should prove that we really have faith. He always insists that faith alone justifies. For where there is this faith, the works must follow. “Therefore, bretheren, be the more zealous to confirm your call and election” (v. 10a).

Indeed the election and God’s eternal foreordination is firm enough in itself and requires no confirmation. The call is also strong and firm. For he who hears the Gospel, believes in it, and is baptized, is called and will be saved. Now since we too, are called, we must be zealous, says Peter, to confirm this call and election for ourselves, not only for God.

If you want to be sure [of your election], you must adopt the method Saint Peter suggests here. Your own experience must teach you this. If your faith is well exercised and applied, you will finally gain assurance, and this will keep you from falling.

Hope this helps???

God Bless!

Read Gods Holy Word daily asking our Blessed Holy Trinity for His Loving Holy Divine Guidance in your life here and to reveal sins already committed for repentance to Jesus after making The Sign of The Cross

Pray from your heart unrushed giving Jesus time and praying and talking to Jesus in deep trust in Him and waiting for His Holy Divine response building up your relationship with Jesus and focussing on Jesus Sorrows, His Bitter Passion, His Agonies and Torments our Lord suffered for all of us during His Life here and on The Cross, loving and adoring Him after praying for the melting of your heart - our hearts. Jesus loves this and few do this our Lord Jesus Christ said to His Holy Saints/Nuns. "Few visit Me in My Blessed Sacrament" - this in His Holy Catholic Church

The most important works here on earth for our Lord Jesus Christ of which He loves are humble Hearts repenting sins to Him in remorse, praying for other hearts and souls for their conversions and salvation and for our Lord Jesus healing them and asking our Lord for His Holy Callings bestowed upon them to love and serve Him of which is Glorifying God in our Lord Jesus Christ and in Holy Spirit, representing Jesus in our daily prayers and works of mercy by Him with all of the Glory His and works of mercy for others from our hearts. Praying to our Blessed Holy Trinity for all Souls on their way to eternal damnation immersing their Souls in Jesus Abyss of Mercy, in His Holy Sacred Wounds "Lord I bring to Thee/You all of the Souls on their way to eternal damnation and I immerse these in Your Abyss of Mercy, in Your Holy Sacred Wounds and in Your Holy Precious Blood for their salvation" Amen. Holy Mother Mary I bring to You all hearts and Souls on their way to eternal damnation and I immerse them in Your Holy Immaculate Heart for Jesus Salvation for them" Amen

If you don't want to pray The Holy Wound Chaplet Jesus delivered to Holy Saint Marie for all of us to pray then The Our Fathers and plenty of them if you can x 50. God Himself receives every Holy Wound Chaplet prayed and every Holy Divine Mercy prayed and every Holy Rosary prayed and every Our Father prayed and every Hail Mary prayed through and from Jesus and Holy Spirit and through Holy Mother Mary. I know this personally and Jesus told His Holy Saints

The Holy Souls in Purgatory for Jesus to bring His Torrents of Blood cooling down their scorching flames of purification - Jesus told His Holy Saints many of them each century that He wants more people doing this for Him to assist them while offering up His Holy Divine Sacrifice of His Holy Masses (HIs Precious Holy Flesh and Precious Holy Sacred Blood of which we are saved through His Holy Sacred Wounds and Holy Sacred Divine Blood) to offer up prayers for all souls conversions and salvation and Holy Masses continually hence Jesus said never to worry about this earthly life the problems - offer them up to Him and immerse our hearts and souls in His Holy Sacred Wounds, and in His Precious Holy Bloodfor Him to take over our problems, ailments and the ailments and problems of all others,

Immerse the world in our Lord Jesus Christs Ocean of Mercy in His holy Sacred Wounds and in His Precious Holy Blood praying for our Blessed Holy Trinitys Love and Mercy bestowed upon the world and for Jesus Precious Holy Blood sweeping out all evil and sins

For all hearts and souls conversions and salvation - all mankind all sinners Jesus said to Holy Saint Faustina in His Holy Divinve

Going to Holy Confession and receiving our Lord Jesus Blessed Holy Trinity in His Holy Communion and in His Holy Confession

Doing good kind loving works from your heart for all others whether this be a smile representing Jesus and Holy Mother Mary in humility - Jesus is humble and loves humble hearts. Making The Sign of The Cross invisibly as one is walking towards others and or seeing others - of which Jesus told His Holy Saints He works through them for conversions and salvation through Holy Mother Mary leading hearts back to Jesus and through their lives so at the same time loving and serving our Blessed Holy Trinity first and assisting others secondly/at the same time.

When we repent of our sin, the Lord rescues us.

Spot on literally excellent Dreadnought telling others
I beg to differ. Christ saves us while we are still hostile enemies! God justifies the ungodly, not the righteous or godly. Christ saves us in out worse condition. We do not attempt to qualify for Salvation. Just sharing.

Hope this helps???

God Bless!

"They have known His voice."

"Verily, verily, I say to you, He who is not entering through the door to the fold of the sheep, but is going up from another side, that one is a thief and a robber; and he who is entering through the door is shepherd of the sheep; to this one the doorkeeper doth open, and the sheep hear His voice, and His own sheep He doth call by name, and doth lead them forth; and when His own sheep He may put forth, before them He goeth on, and the sheep follow Him, because they have known His voice; and a stranger they will not follow, but will flee from him, because they have not known the voice of strangers."(John 10:1-5, YLT)

Many Christians worship God and preach the Gospel of Jesus’ works of salvation. But really most of these people’s hearts are blind and do not understand what they are talking about. They go on talking about Jesus’ salvation and keep the commandment as much as they can which is good. But once they commit sin which is grave for their opinion(although all sins serious or not is enough to stop us from entering the kingdom) they start to fear hell and forget that Jesus has paid for it all. Also they go around judging people according to their works saying that if he really believes in Jesus and if he is really saved, he will not do such thing. They think they will enter the kingdom if they are judged the same way. Clearly their hearts are proud and think they will go to heaven because they are good people. Clearly their hearts are blind and do not really see what Jesus have already done.

I'd just like to know what any of you people have to say about the questions below. If any of you could answer these for me, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!
.
ROMANS.5:12-21 = Death in Adam, Life in Christ
12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— 13 (For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. 15 But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. 16 And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification. 17 For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

18 Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.

20 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, 21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
.
.

HEBREWS.9:22 = 22 And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.(cf; LEVITICUS.17:11)
.
.

ROMANS.10:8-17 = 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:

“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,
Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
.
.

JOHN.3:14-18 = 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _

People need to be told that because of their inherited Adam's Original Sin, all of them are going to hell when they die = they need a Saviour/Christ/Messiah to save them from hell and gift them eternal life in the kingdom of God/heaven through belief/faith in Jesus Christ, and not through the good works of the Law.
....... Only the righteousness or good works of Christ at the Cross can make us righteous/justified for salvation. Our own righteousness or good works cannot save us from hell, since we may lust at a woman with our eyes or have anger, hate, greed, jealousy, fears/worries, etc in our hearts = we have Adam's Original Sin.

I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that he took the sins away on the cross of all who believed on him. I believe that Jesus is the true Lord of the universe and that by his word he spoke all that is into existence out of nothing. I do not have a physical ticket to heaven that I can show you but I know that when I stand before my Lord he will never say these words. I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.

The thing to be is not born again. It is rather born from above. Sanctification is necessary on a daily basis lest one lose their salvation.

Not Scriptural
Romans 3
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

. I. Packer writes:
Repentance means turning from as much as you know of your sin

I will use some wisdom from Solomon Proverbs 26:5

Let's say that guy was right . What sin did God commit that he had to repent from ?

Exodus 32:14 King James Version (KJV)
14 And the Lord repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

Not quite sure what you're getting at there Chinchilla. I am not claiming that we save ourselves.
