How did we get here?

How did we get here? THe question has been asked by many but answered by few. Creationists will tell you that we are offspring of Adam and Eve. Evolutionists will say that we evolved upward from some distant apelike hominid somewhere in the past. I want to go back further. For Creationists, the answer is easy- God made Adam and Eve. That case is closed.

But for evolutionists the answer is not so easily put forth. Evolutionists always seem to respond with something along the lines of "ToE doesn't deal with origins..." But I want to know what evolutionists actually think about the matter. Where did that supposed common ancestor come from? If all life shares this supposed CA (common ancestor), where did it come from?

I know that evolutionists first response will be "ToE doesn't deal with that..." I want to say rubbish. You must have some theory, idea, guess, or hypothosis of everything came from and how every life form got started and I would like you to share that.

(This thread is not for a regular old rehash of Creation v Evolution. I simply want to know where evolutionists believe it all started at.)

What do you expect them to say? They do not even have God as a resource. They can't face this question.

Indeed, easy answers are often very tempting.

It's not rubbish -- ToE really doesn't address origins, so evolutionists are going to have all sorts of different ideas, none of which involve the ToE.

See, it's easier than you think!

Evolution does not deal with how life came to be; That belongs to Abiogenesis. Given time and the right conditions then the laws of chemistry and physics will do the rest. Creationists cannot fathom timescales that span billions of years. They seem to want everything to be done within 7 days.

One cannot possibly ask science to answer to creationism simply because science does not delve into the supernatural and unfalsifiable. But if it makes you happy to believe in creationism the be my guest as this in no way will put the brakes on sciences goal to erudition.

Personally I am happy that all life is related. here is a newborn baby cousin of ours!

Made up answers are always easy. Studying the world to try to find out what really happened, is very hard and clear answers sometimes can't be found. If evolutionists had the same propensity to make up answers, as creationists do, we would just do that, instead of admitting that some questions still haven't been fully resolved. One way to judge reliability and honesty in people is to see how often they utter the line "I don't know". People who act like they know everything, rarely know anything, and they're not being honest with themselves or others.

Concerning the origin of life: I don't know, but the study of abiogenesis looks promising.

Peter :)

Thank you, Peter, for at least being honest instead of dismissive. I appreciate that greatly.

May I ask you another question? Why does abiogenesis look promising to you?

What do YOU believe as an evolutionist are the beginnings of life on this planet?

I tend to lean towards abiogenesis, but honestly, I don't think about it too much -- the fact that I'm here now tends to take priority.

Is that all God is to you? A resource?

I asked "What do you believe?"

Care to enlighten us on your beliefs?

Thanks.

I don't see why not.

I believe somewhere, sometime, someplace a reproducing molecule was generated.

I don't really care enough about it to believe something else.
