  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How did the Xia people in China build up the population so quickly after the flood?

Biblehub suggested that Noah's flood happened before 2500 BCE.

Let's say 2700 BCE.

Xia dynasty time estimates:

According to the traditional chronology, based upon calculations by Liu Xin, the Xia ruled between 2205 and 1766 BC. According to the chronology based on the "current text" Bamboo Annals, it ruled between 1989 and 1558 BC.
Let's take the modern estimate of 1700 BCE.

Population estimates:

The Book of the Later Han quotes … the total population was 13,553,923 individuals,[28] however, this number is highly speculative.
Wang Yumin, using description of demography during the reign of Emperor Shun who directly preceded the Xia, concluded that the population of the dynasty was around 2.1 million.[30]
Let's take the modern estimate of 2 million.

Noah's descendants had 1000 years to build up 2.1 million Chinese people in the Xia dynasty.

Ah yes, the third millennium BC (Backwards Counting) - what eminent Egyptologist Kenneth Kitchen has described as murky history. So I'll wander into the murky fog ...

Suppose the Flood occurred in the early 3000s BC - maybe 3100 BC. And to round off the numbers, recorded Chinese history begins around 2000 BC (though I am inclined toward 2205 BC). As you guessed, that's about a millennium. In ancient times, people had children at a younger age - say 20 years. Then that is 1000/20 = 50 generations. How many children per generation are required? (It is the same kind of math formula as business calculation of compound interest.) Then
x^50 = 2.1 x 10^6 => x = 1.338 children per generation
This assumes perfect replacement, but people die in childhood or have no children or are killed before they do, so it is an ideal number, though a number like 2 or 3 is entirely likely. And children are not all born at a parental age of 20, but it is not an unreasonable average guess (so I suppose). So yes, it is possible.
