False. The flood was worldwide.
Why?

World wide when mankind was yet living in a relatively small area at that time?

Man was in his infancy.... The population was very small by today's standards.

Read the early genealogies and you will see that some were having their first child at age 80.

The flood only needed to be "known world to man" - world wide.

How did men back then think in terms of the concept of the 'whole world?'

Genesis 11:1-2

Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. As people moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there."

What constituted the term 'the whole world' to them, was where all mankind inhabited!

In that case?

In Genesis 11:1-2 the 'whole world' was located on the plain of Shinar!

Noah's flood that was needed to destroy mankind was contained to surround the small part of the earth where mankind was living.

How could the flood water be so high and also stay put to do the job God intended?

Look at the parted Red Sea.
God heaped up the waters!
He kept the waters back as he heaped them up high..

God had Noah's flood waters go high, but contained them to only a limited part of the earth!
For only mutant mankind and the rebellious were to perish..

God had no gripe with the rest of the planet where man was not living.

How do you know that man had not travelled throughout the world.

If that was the case why did Noah have to take the animals into the ark, he could have travelled to somewhere the flood had not hit.

Sorry, you are distorting the Word of God.

How do you know that man had not travelled throughout the world.
Because if they were scattered throughout the world?

They would have never been able to hear the warnings coming from Noah.
Therefore, they all had to be close enough to Noah, so God could be fair and allow them to repent.

For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered
them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world,
but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the
world of the ungodly." 2 Peter 2:4-5

Noah could not take all the animals of the planet onto the Ark. Only animals that were indigenous to where man was living.
If God wanted Noah to take all the species of animals of the planet into an ark? Noah would have had to build a huge fleet of arks.
Do a Googled search - " how many animal species are known.'

Sorry, we need to learn. Its thinking like yours that needs correction. For your thinking makes secular scientist know you can not be telling truth about Noah's Ark. That in turn makes them feel justified in their rejection of Christ.

Even if they reject after having the truth? God wants them to be without excuse. We need to learn what the Bible reveals, not what many were told in Sunday school, if we are going to be a good witness for Christ.

It takes time to work these things out. We all make mistakes along the way.

One pair of every kind. One of the horse kind, one of the dog kind etc. 7 pairs of every clean animal kind. They didnt need need to be adult animals. God made the animals go to Noah, the beginning of migration. It is possible that the animals in the ark hibernated part of the time. Noah noticed that the weather was now hot and cold, which means that before the flood the weather was different, with no extremes of hot and cold.

Do yourself a favor.

Google search the number of different animal species cover the planet.

(hint) - The number of species in just the animal kingdom is estimated to range from 1 to 2 million,
however, some sources place the number as high as 50 million.

The flood for Noah was local. The flood to destroy the prehistoric earth was global (Gen 1:2).

Gen 6:9 says "Noah was a righteous man," but it does not say that of the rest of his family. The Giants, though still giants, get smaller by generation, as the seed is mixed with humans. Someone on the ark could have carried the giant DNA.
The first generation, in the days of Jared, was 50/50, were so monstrous, that they had to be destroyed.

The Nephilim had bodies unlike Adam. Half angel/half Adam.

Jesus died only for all those in Adam.

In order to give the Nephilim a chance for salvation? They were not given souls.
They were given spirits like their male parent. That made them born spiritual
and able to decide for, or against the Lord, just like angels had.

Jesus on the Cross could not die for their sins of their hybrid flesh.

God could not allow for such intermarriages to continue. The Flood put an end to it.

The days of Jared were about 1,000 years before the flood, so second, third, and fourth generations could have been born, and the diluted seed carried on the ark.

5 Then they all swore together and bound one another with a curse. 6/ And they were, all of them, two hundred, who descended in the days of Jared onto the peak of Mount Hermon. And they called the mountain “Hermon” because they swore and bound one another with a curse on it.

False. The flood was worldwide.

Noah and his family had all the Gene's that then became all nations and families which dispersed after Babel, whatever colour and every feature and every height.

False. The flood was regional.

The Bible never says anything about genetics. Stop making stuff up about the Bible.

In fact, the Biblical authors never even knew that earth was a sphere, let alone were they describing a global flood.

Nonsense. Angels don't breed with men. The scripture doesn't mention them breeding at all. They were created beings and apart from fallen Angel's, they won't die. Gabriel came to Daniel and also to the shepherds in the gospel.

Genesis 6:17 And behold, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die.

Genesis 7:17-23 Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. The waters prevailed and greatly increased on the earth, and the ark moved about on the surface of the waters. And the waters prevailed exceedingly on the earth, and all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered. The waters prevailed fifteen cubits upward, and the mountains were covered. And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, all that was on the dry land, died. So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive.

I don't think it is me making things up.

How do you know that they were not aware that the earth is round?

We need to learn to differentiate concerning Noah's flood.....
Now the whole earth had one language and one speech.
Note: The plain of Shinar (where man was inhabiting) constituted being called the "whole earth."
Likewise, Noah's flood was for the whole earth (where man was living).
And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of
Shinar, and they dwelt there. Then they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and
bake them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. And they
said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make
a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” Genesis 11:1-4

Noah's flood was God's judgment against all mankind (except Noah and his family.)
Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth,
and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was
grieved in His heart." Gen 6:5-6

God's only gripe was with rebellious mankind!
God had no gripe with animals per se.
God was not against polar bears and penguins.
Why kill them off? For man was not living there!

The flood was not to be against all those animals that were dwelling outside of the area of man's habitat.

Only the animals inside where man was living were had to become collateral damage due to the nature of taking
everyone by surprise with the huge flood.

grace and peace ...............

You're reading this as if it was written by a 21st century meteorologist.

Remember, the Hebrew word for "earth", erets, in the old testament, is also used simply to refer to land. They had no concept of a spherical earth.

That's why Genesis 7:11 and Genesis 8:2 describe windows opening and closing in the solid dome raqia to release the celestial sky ocean.

You're reading the text as if it was a science lesson. Rather than reading the text through the lense of its original ancient near east context.

Because the Bible excessively describes ancient near east 3-tiered cosmology.

And for those who are new to the discussion, the Bible was written in an ancient near east context. Read the Bible closely and it becomes quite clear.

Ancient Isrealites believed that the sky was blue because it was made, at least partly, of water. In the Bible this is described as "the waters above" in the first chapters of Genesis. The chaotic primordial waters of "the deep" are observed in Genesis 1:2. It's plain as day once you know what you're looking at.

The "expanse" or "firmament", sometimes translated as "dome" is the raqia. A solid glass or crystal-like structure that holds up the waters above. Lights, the stars, are stuck "in" the dome. Like thumbtacks in a corkboard. Stars held up in the sky, gravity does not bring them down because the solid raqia holds them up. The raqia has windows and doors in it that open and close in the Bible.

And below the land is "Sheol" where all people go when they die, good or bad. Sheol in the Bible is described with watery language on occasion. Torrents and waves. And earth rests upon pillars that are "sunk". Etc etc

And God said, “Let there be a dome in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”
Genesis 1:6

God made the dome, and separated the waters which were below the dome from the waters which were above the dome; and it was so. God called the dome heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.

That is supposition.

The sons of God were angels. The Bible calls elohim, sons of God, many many times.

When human beings began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.
Genesis 6:1‭-‬2‭, ‬4 NIV

For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others; if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;
2 Peter 2:4‭-‬6 NIV

And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not himself dare to condemn him for slander but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones

... flood was regional ...
Using background information:

The Black Sea inundation was regional at a specific time

Many inundations such as Dogger Bank, and lan d of south and w est India (where there were reclamation efforts), etc may have been apparent at about the same time as each other

That in Sundaland was probably at an earlier date but arguably contemporaneous with similar occurrences elsewhere at that time.

Thus "the flood was worldwide" and "the flood was regional" are both correct, but only if they are both correct.

It's been pointed out that in Gen 6-7 two sets of measurements and time scales are mentioned (two stories for the price of one, with only one named hero).

Some commenters think the main part of Genesis 1 reads like an eyewitness account of an earlier such occurrence from on board some vessel. It was given the meaning of "first" creation because it was the furthest back that was remembered.

Different nations had different eyewitness accounts - it's not the same one garbled. Outer Mongolia and South Siberia don't recall a time when they had coasts. But in some countries, descendants of migrants recall their earlier coasts. A mixture of practical geology / oceanography and common sense interpretations of tales can help.

Ships like the one Ryan and Pitman borrowed in the Black Sea can't often be spared for historical reearch.

Land rises as well as sinking: we often hear about this in Chile for example (and north America in the 1810s). Parts of England and North India rose, changing the courses of rivers.

If water comes up it usually goes down by a lesser amount as it settles.

Icons shouldn't be misinterpreted: centaurs (gandharvas) were visual shorthand (imagery play) for horsemen; while fish tailed people are characters that had arrived somewhere by boat.
