  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If God created something that obviously looks organic in nature (coal does) that never lived, then yes, that would seem deceptive.
"Organic" is something scientists came up with.

God created the earth with coal embedded in it.

Only a scientist would call that a crime.

But my whole point is that God did not do that.
Either that, or He did.
homohabilis117 said:
Coal is coal.
Ya ... so why did you say "obviously looks organic in nature," if not to make my point look like God committed some kind of crime?

There was no death of man or animals prior to the Fall, and I think you know we believe that.

Why don't you just vent your false accusation against God in private?

Or are you afraid to?

Coal seams have preserved imprints of leaves and other living structures.
So?
homohabilis117 said:
Why would God create the impression of a dead smashed leaf that never once lived?
LOL ... wow.

He didn't.

He created the earth with coal embedded in it.

Sue Him if it bothers you that much.
homohabilis117 said:
And if you say he did for whatever reason, then you are basically admitting that reality has no rhyme or reason.
You'd like to think that, wouldn't you?
homohabilis117 said:
And if that is the case, you can't trust your senses at all.
My senses are just fine and do what they were created to do.
homohabilis117 said:
But if your senses are completely untrustworthy you have no way of knowing God didn't create the world last week.
The Bible says otherwise.

I don't need all five of my primary senses to read It.

Actually since the coal shows a history when it is unnecessary that refutes the flood that again means you are claiming that God lied.

What's your problem, homo?

Why don't you just vent your false accusation against God in private?

Pointing out your errors in theology is not making accusations against God. If anyone is making false accusations that would be you.

Wrong, your interpretation of the Bible says otherwise.

I don't need all five of my primary senses to read It.

Yes, but you need to use sense when interpreting the evidence. If your God put the evidence there, which you keep claiming, then since that evidence says there was no Flood we are left with two possibilities. Either your interpretation is wrong or God lied. Of the two I would choose "your interpretation is wrong".

First off, I apologize if I offended you personally somehow. Although I am a bit of a gimmick I think your reference to me as "homo" was not kindly intended and could be taken the wrong way. I strongly disagree with your views on theology. And this sub forum is meant for discussion, so I will push my point. If that offends you I am sorry, but there is not much I can do about that. If I said something demeaning to your character or you as a person, please tell me what offended you. I will apologize and refrain from speaking like that in our future interactions. I do enjoy debating with you. Sometimes, you make me think. I hope what I bring up on my end makes you scratch your head in an intellectually pleasing way as well, once and awhile. I dont want to offend, but many of the beliefs held by the church today trouble me. You hold some of those beliefs I believe to be in error. So I debate you. But I assume we are both brothers in Christ. In the end, we will know who was right. And I think we will each discover a lot we were wrong about on both sides of the issue. Until then I believe these issues are important and need to be resolved if the church is going to continue to have a meaningful impact on the 21st century. God bless.

Me too! :)

I tend to lose my cool from time to time.

I edited that post and removed the offensive line.

Some of the pieces of coal I have seen have still got fossils of leaves on them, why would those fossils be there if God was not really trying to fool people but just embedding coal in the ground?

You don't think the Ark had metal parts, do you?

The ark itself was probably all wood, using very tight joinery. Other objects within the ark could have been many other materials.

Coal is a fossil fuel. Fossil. How did fossil fuels form before Noah's flood? According to the bible the world God made was "good". How is building a world on top of dead, pressurized, solidified organic matter good? Also, if God simply "created" coal as part of the literal 6 day creation, he is essentially making illusions. Coal is made of organic matter. If coal was created and not formed, it quite literally means that God planted evidence. And as we all know "planting" evidence is only needed when someone wants someone else to believe a different version of reality. If God created a young earth, fine. But if so, it really looks like he wanted us to believe in an old one.

I am an old earth creationist.

Hmmm.

Interesting.

100-300 million year old fossils, and they end up in your backyard on a warm sunny day cooking hot dogs?

Perhaps the Smithsonian isn't taking any of these fossils anymore?
Jay Follett said:

Well, let's see if we can look at this deductively, shall we?

1. 4004 BC = God creates the earth with coal embedded in it.
2. 2016 AD = Jay Follett has seen coal with fossils of leaves on them (whatever that means).
3. Conclusion = the coal formed in the earth 100-300 million years ago.

Um ... has it occurred to you that those pieces of coal you saw and claim there were fossils on them ... not in them ... may have been lying side-by-side since the Flood?

And that maybe somehow the coal and the leaf were joined together at the hip by some catastrophe that scientists have been denying for only the past 150 of the earth's alleged 4,534,000,000 years?

AV1611VET. I'm afraid you are just a sad sad person, even when you know something is true you will insist on fooling yourself into believing it's not, if what you think you have is Christianity I want no part of it.

I was looking but Zone beat me to it. You both know this to be true as well as anyone.

Here is the link to the photo Zone put up.
http://io9.gizmodo.com/a-map-showing-which-u-s-public-schools-teach-creationi-1515717148

Creationism only gets challenged and stopped when someone complains, if no one complains it happens and children are indoctrinated and made to suffer all their lives.
North Carolina needs to be on that map. My fiancé currently resides there, and he had multiple instructors "teach" evolution, following up with saying that everything about it was wrong constantly, and made biblical references. Which makes me question what motivated them to become science teachers. So, these are the schools that either do it so much that they can't possibly hide it, or are honest enough to say what they are doing.

Their religious indoctrination gets the better of them and it makes them tell lies to their students and themselves.
