That is a good point but still is it offensive to God? As I view offence it is not so much accidentaly doing stuff that offends me but rather deliberately doing stuff that is going to offend me. But the question is, is God big enough not to be offended even whem someone deliberately tries to be offencive?

The problem we face here is that society seems to view emotion as weakness so assigning emotion to God would imply weakness on His part.

Ok, looking beyond the verbage and getting to the point:

God has expectations of us. We don't live up to those expectations, we disappoint Him. He desires us to live in obedience to Him. If we do something He finds repulsive, we offend Him.

We are NOT like ants to God. You do not love ants enough to sacrifice your son for them. You don't have a relationship with ants (as far as I know). We are His Children. That means we are like children to Him. We are not insignificant in God's eyes.

As far as God being so big that he can't be offended...

I think I'm starting to understand what you're asking. How can little ol' us hurt big ol' Him?

God knows what your motives are. If you intentionally try to offend Him I would guess that it would roll off His back. Because He knows who will have the last word.

since God created you, he has more love for you than you do to some insignificant ant.
If you have ever created something, be it a drawing or pottery, or grown a plant, or saved up and spent money on something you wanted. You have a connection to it more than something someone just gives you or something that you don't have anything to do with.
God has more love for you than you can imagine and he paid the highest price to be able to have a relationship with you. So if you reject him or do things that are against him, it is not as if you are hurting him as much as hurting someone that he cares about. You.

Greetings and Blessing be upon you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

When you asked:

Samantha17 said:
If I am just a small little person and GOD is GOD, how could I possibly do anything that would offend GOD?

And then you rephrased it as:

An ant could never offend (or disappoint) me, so how could I, like an "ant" next to GOD, do anything to offend (or disappoint) GOD?

Allow me to indulge you with a quote from the Bible:

Matthew10 said:
29Are not two sparrows sold for a penny[4] ? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. 30And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

In the end, God knows you, and you are important to God.

So although we are insignificant “compared” to God, we are not insignificant to God.

I hope that clears this up for you.

God Bless.

Vigil.

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” (1 Peter 5:8)

You are not offending God, you are breaking His commands. You are literally saying "No" to God after He tells you to do something.

I don't really know how we could 'offend' God. To Him something is either right or wrong it can't be this thing where it might be okay but only around certain people.

Maybe I'm just more imaginative than most people but I can easily imagine how an ant could dissappoint you. What if the ant were crawling along your dashboard of your car as you were driving, and you happened to notice it but you didn't know what it was, so you took a longer look at it, and then you ran through a red light and got in a bad car accident. I'd be pretty upset about the ant myself.

or maybe you were at a picnic and you wanted to play a little volleyball with your friend before lunch, and you get back and the ants are in your food. That's kind of disappointing.

Or maybe you had to do a science experiment at school, so you spent months constructing a very elaborate ant farm. And then on the morning of the science fair, all your ants died suddenly.

I could go on and on but I don't think I'm making any point that really matters.

The little things you do matter a whole lot to God. He knows better than you. For instance, he knows your health and the fertility of your ovaries. Bringing a baby in to the world without a healthy relationship in marriage is something serious. Aside from the risk of having a baby, there is also the fact that you can sear your conscience and/or add unhappiness to your life. Getting close like that with a boyfriend can lead to disappointments that you remember forever. I was trashed by some guys when I was a teenager and it still haunts me. Guys can be horrible to girls they think are easy. The immaturity of the age is also a big reason for treating each other bad at that age. In retrospect, I think it's better to wait to also assure some mental/emotional/physical maturity before getting sexually active. Just some thoughts. As always, you have freewill but if you ask Christians, you ask for some truthful and concerned advice.

heh I was starting to wonder with all that imagination you have about the ants dissapointing you but in most of those examples the person is really the one to blame...

Then your next part is a very powerful message which I hope she listens to for her sake and for her future husband's.

Ant is not sentient(self-aware) he does not know what he does. Also i have never heard of God being 'Offended' you can push him away though...

Samantha,

Be sure not to ignore Gods physical state also... He became one of those "ants" to save them. Satan is working on you sister, please allow God take the situation. Satan is trying to make you think that you cannot offend God, hence.. just do what you want.
It is like this... imagine you made something living breathing like us (which is hard to imagine in the first place). Now you love your creation and have given them oppertunity to call on you for ANY help! Now you made them, you love them, you would give your own "life" for them... Yet despite all this your creation spits in your face and will not come to you for help but they go to your enemy.... Your own creation mind you!
Now just imagine how God could love us!

In love,

The Bible doesn't make man an ant, but rather His creation made after His own image and likeness. He has great purpose in His creation of mankind otherwise He would not have come as the "Son of man" and suffer death in our place. The result of man's sin is death, but Jesus broke that power over us by being the first to rise from death to new life with God. We will have to follow after Him in order to be in His kingdom as His family.
As others have said, He knows and sees the sparrow's death, and even has the number of hairs counted on our heads in His intimate knowledge of us. We are called the apple of His eye and it has been said by the great psalmist that he even stores our tears in a bottle. God is the truest and deepest meaning and presence of love and faithfulness.

Zec 2:8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

Matthew 10:29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Samantha 17,
First you have to understand that we are not like ants to God....We are his children that he himself created in his image. He has feelings too....and He loves us. He doesn't like it when we sin. Most often we do it, even when we know it's wrong. And it hurts him....when he was with Moses, he showed his presence in the form of smoke...and people even knew that He was among them, but still they didn't listen. So He not just looking down on us....

And he created you. YOU are the BELOVED. You belong to him, he is your abba, your father....your daddy. He loves you like no one else can love you because you are his prized possession and he created you for Jesus, and Jesus, loving you so much, came down and died for us all because of his love.
