How can anyone justify not believing in capital punishment?

And what about the times that American cops have shot & killed the wrong person? I remember watching a video on the murder in a BART facility in California. A black kid was minding his own business, and as a result was arrested and a cop just up & killed him. That kid was just sitting there, arrested, hands cuffed behind his back, not saying anything, and the cop draws his gun and shots him dead. Does having a badge make the cop "God"?

Isolating one incident does not make all cops killers and "God."

In that incident, if it is the one I'm thinking of, the cop was reaching for his taser and grabbed his gun by mistake instead.

I was ecstatic when I heard of that inhumane monster, Osama Bin Laden, was killed by U.S. forces-finally!

How can any reasonable person not agree with punishing people like Osama with death?

Bin Laden was a wicked man, that's for sure.

However was it right to execute him without due process?

IMO he should have been put on trial, his crimes aired before the world. His followers would have been demoralised by seeing their leader called to account before a court of law.

An excellent point.

Off topic but that story about the capture and "execution" of OBL is pretty questionable as to its authenticity.

Ok. A lot of talk saying that execution is good. I suppose if the person did it, maybe it is.

Now let us revise this, and ask "what do you feel we should do, as Americans (or whatever nationality you hold) when someone in prison is executed, and after they are dead it turns out they were really innocent? Is that justice, or is it murder?

sorry i'm just getting to your message that was sent to my email. but i didn't say man should execute man. i responded to someone stating man has no right to basically take another man's life. if i can recall, i didn't agree with that. that's was another reason i hated execution, something i talked with my children many times. MANY people were executed falsely.
i've said that same thing basically, now what?, how can the government!...redo the wrong they had done? for me, money wouldn't mean a darn thing!

and trust me, i've been in a situation ,(me and my brothers), simular to that. and every since, i don't trust cops. sadly it makes it bad for the good ones, in my book. i've seen many stories on bad cops, and NO i know they're NOT God. though mant seen to believe they are by the way they through their weight around. so again my post didn't show i agreed with execution. peace :)

In God's eyes, without the blood of Jesus, we are all monsters.

1 But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 Early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people were coming to Him; and He sat down and began to teach them. 3 The scribes and the Pharisees *brought a woman caught in adultery, and having set her in the center of the court, 4 they *said to Him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women; what then do You say?” 6 They were saying this, testing Him, so that they might have grounds for accusing Him. But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground. 7 But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 When they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the center of the court. 10 Straightening up, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more.”]
John 8

Personally I'm not a fan of the death penalty. I don't take delight in someone dying. It's funny because most of my beliefs are pretty conservative but I guess I can always relate to the bad guy, which makes it easier for me to show mercy for them. I think about all the times God has allowed me to live when I deserved the death penalty. While I don't think capitol punishment is sin, since it's obviously biblical, I just know that God will serve justice when He chooses, whether that be through capitol punishment or something else.

Right ...so if someone murdered your family after torturing them for hours , you would want them to live and have 3 meals a day , and be able to learn a new language in prison on your tax dollars ??

21 Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him?As many as seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.

Mat 18:21-22

Come on, it's easy to hate your enemies. That's what the rest of the world does.

Osama become a Christian? Are you kidding? I don't think there's a person on this planet who seriously believes that such a hardline militant Muslim would ever become a Christian. Do you seriously believe that?
Paul was a murderer of Christians, until he became one.

Call it whatever you like:

War
Capital punishment
Execution

It's still murder.
Then you condemn God for murder because the God of the OT is the same as the God of the NT, unless of course you worship a different God. My God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, as the Bible states. Your view is simplistic, and I sense it is more the result of your political leanings than your desire to be more like Jesus. I could be wrong on this. I'm not perfect.

They executed homosexuals, adulterers, violators of the Sabbath, those of other religions, etc. in the OT. Are you saying we should too?

I just asked a simple question, that you didn't answer.
I answered your question with a question. Jesus did much the same thing when questioned by the Sadducees and Pharisees. You are probably pro-choice (pro-abortion) and justify it in some liberal justification of genocide. I hope I'm wrong on this, but I see it way too often.

Your are dodging the question. Do you believe we should execute homosexuals, adulterers, those of other religions, those who work on the Sabbath, as Moses commanded? If you still don't answer I will assume that you believe we should execute them.

I do not believe in murdering the unborn.
