How big is the impact of the asteroid of Revelation

Well, it could be a mountain/asteroid/comet from outer space. It could be a mountain here on Earth that is cast into the ocean causing a massive tsunami. Scripture does not say from whence it originated.There is a mountain that geologists think could fall into the ocean and cause a massive tsunami to hit the East coast of the U.S.

Oh, brother. Many of you are obsessed with asteroids, comets, UFO, etc. without actually researching in the Bible for God's definition and interpretation for the mountain, fire, sea, fishes, ships, life, etc.

Gen 40:8
[8] And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.

All interpretations of the prophecies belong to God Himself so we need to find his interpretations and definitions right here in His Bible. Not something for a man to interpret with National Geography, YouTube, Astronomy magazine, etc.

It's not really an either/or I think. Of course people shouldn't be misled into something like astrology or ufo stuff, etc., but is anyone here doing any such above?

Forgive me, but I wrote I read the bible every day and then you wrote: "you are looking in the wrong place" which made me pause a second, but then I guessed you mean something else.

I think this is a communication problem though. I wonder if you might have guessed based on "appearances" -- John 7:24 -- that I try to look to the stars or "ufos" because I was pointing out how an asteroid would look going through the atmosphere?

But misunderstanding over the internet is normal, as it was before the internet. This is part of why Christ told what He said in John 7:24.

I reread your initial post again, to try to be sure I'm really responding to you on that post. We do generally want to be sure we use the bible to interpret the bible. In this case of what is Wormwood, and similar such questions in Revelations, generaly most all of us do not know I expect. So we wonder, and of course that's not a wrong. Also, it's not really an either/or I think about knowing stuff about asteriods, etc. and knowing the bible meanings. Of course people shouldn't be misled into something like astrology (note astrology is not astronomy!) or ufo stuff, etc., but is anyone here doing any such above? If they did, I didn't notice. I do wonder what Wormwood will be. What if my daughter and/or her children face its appearance, for instance? Yes, I don't truly worry, because I know we have salvation in Christ, alone -- Acts 4:12 -- and Wormwood will kill many but won't stop salvation for our souls.

Only faith in Him can save anyone here, never our knowledge of prophecies, but only our remaning, dwelling, abiding in Him, and following Him.

Ah, I bet it seemed as if I think it has to be an asteriod or comet? Not my assumption. But it is a possibility. Why does it even matter though? I've always known I didn't have to understand all the signs in Revelation, but instead the key things for salvation. While I feel as if I know several mysterious things in revelations (and there are a great many there), I hope I won't be preaching some revelation signs to people that need something else. It's a first-things-first ordering. Unless you are concerned you won't know when it happens, why even worry? I think we'll know if we are here when it happens. Dramatically and assuredly. Consider the listed effects.

Any and all need to pray the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6, often daily, so that they won't fall under urges like pride or striking back, etc.

The word 'burning with fire' shows its friction while travels at very high speed into the atmosphere.

OR...it could be a volcano. No need for "friction." A large volcano could erupt and explode and be cast into the sea. No such thing as asteroids as the earth is covered by a solid dome described in the Bible as the firmament - but that is another subject altogether.

Why do you think such an event would occur in the pacific and not the Atlantic. The busiest shipping lanes in the world are probably the English channel and around Europe.

If it is ONLY a third of ships I suppose it could happen in the Pacific.

Symbolist interpretations of Revelations aside. Surely a fish is a fish, a mountain is a mountain, the sea is the sea and a ship is a ship.

The point is an asteroid need not be the only interpretation.

Do you think the world powers have read those Revelation passages, and want us to think an asteroid is going to hit our earth in the near future? Sure seems like Hollywood is definitely on that plan; maybe those commies in Hollywood are reading our Lord's Revelation.

I have to agree with most of what TribulationSigns has said. Those Revelation passages are spiritual in nature, and are about the concept of deception. The target of the coming Antichrist will be for one's soul, not our flesh. Our Lord Jesus and Apostle Paul even showed us one of the signs of the very end would be a time of world peace (Matt.24:6; 1 Thess.5:3).

If an asteroid hit the earth like the movies show, it would wipe out all life on earth from darkening the sky by all the material cast up in it, and that is not how God's Word declares the end of this present world will happen (2 Pet.3:10).

Thats not history man, i live in Java. Sumatra and Java were divided long be4 the Krakatau eruption. It was a mountain reaching high from the bottom of the sea to the surface, not a mountain on an island. Its still active today.

But referring it to the volcano eruption under the sea may have some points.

God didnt say it either, that the world will be ended by asteroid.
