It was a mountain reaching high from the bottom of the sea to the surface, not a mountain on an island. Its still active today.
But referring it to the volcano eruption under the sea may have some points.
The 7 Seals will be opened in the final 70th week of Daniel, which is the final WEEK or 7 years of Grief Tribulation (end of civilization).
Yes our Father has been known to perform some spectacular feats in the past. If He did it before, He will do it again.
That does not mean He is not going to do supernatural things again.
When the Holy Spirit has been removed the world will enter the 70th week of Daniel which is the final 7 years of civilization of wars and desolation where God will punish the unbelieving world with the opening of 7 Seals, 7 Trumpets and 7 Vials.
I am happy that you recognize that our Father is able. He is the same God that spoke the heaven and the Earth into existence. He is the same God who flooded the Earth in Noah's day. He is the same God that confused the languages at the Tower of Babel.He is the same God who rained down fire upon Sodom and Gomorrah . He is the same God who parted the Red Sea for Moses. He is the same God who stopped the sun from going down for Joshua. He is the pillar of cloud by day and He is the pillar of fire by night. He is God and He does not change. Yes times change, but our Father does not. What is science but the discovery of how our Father did everything? There is nothing new under the sun.
This can be an asteroid, but also a super-volcanic eruption as well, since it does say a great mountain burning with fire. Yellowstone, even the Great Syria-Africa Rift are areas that might erupt. Even in scripture, Christ sets his feet on the Mt of Olives and it divides in two. So a crack/fissure in the earth occurs. The area of the Dead Sea historically has been a hot thermal zone. The Syria-Africa Rift is 3500 miles long and has dozens of active and inactive volcanos along that rift. The area where Jesus was tempted, the demons sent into the pigs that were sent into the abyss happened in that area, the wilderness outside of Jerusalem. It is said,, demons dwell beneath the earth in this area and very likely, the angel that comes down and opens the Bottomless Pit is likely to happen in that area. Demon- locusts come out of this pit that smokes (like a burning furnace). But we can suspect that asteroids will be involved as well, since 1/3 of all ships are destroyed by the violent waves of the ocean. The Bible speaks of a worldwide earthquake which would also do the job as well. We will soon see ... or hopefully be taken out before that happens.
