Hosea 13 and Daniel 7's 4 Beasts

Oftentimes, as I am studying prophecies, there is always a nagging suspicion that if one, just one, verse were translated better, the whole book of Revelation would open up for everyone. While I don't think it opens up everything, here is a pretty good example:

Hosea 13

7 Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them:
8 I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.
9 O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help.

If you are familiar with Daniel 7's 4 beasts from the sea and can just set aside your preconceived and preterist notions for 2 seconds, I think we can get alot out of these verses.

2 Daniel spoke, saying, “I saw in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the Great Sea. 3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, each different from the other. 4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings. I watched till its wings were plucked off; and it was lifted up from the earth and made to stand on two feet like a man, and a man’s heart was given to it.
5 “And suddenly another beast, a second, like a bear. It was raised up on one side, and had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. And they said thus to it: ‘Arise, devour much flesh!’
6 “After this I looked, and there was another, like a leopard, which had on its back four wings of a bird. The beast also had four heads, and dominion was given to it.
7 “After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns. 8 I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. And there, in this horn, were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking pompous words.

I highly recommend studying all of Hosea in tandem with Daniel and Revelation, and soon I will get to a chapter by chapter discussion. But for now, let's look at these verses: it parallels Dan 7's lion with eagle wings, the bear, the leopard, and the wild beast (which people just assume is Rome - but it isn't!).

When we look at Hosea 13 verse 8, we see the 4th beast described as "wild". The word here is H7704, Sadeh,

definition:

field, land
cultivated field
of home of wild beasts
plain (as opposed to mountain)
land (as opposed to sea)

the particular definition I like is "land" (as opposed to sea). The 4th "wild" beast is actually an "earth"/ "land" beast. It's the beast with 10 horns.

The lion with eagle wings is 1 head, the bear is the 2nd head, the 4 headed leopard is the 3rd through 6th head, and the "land"/ "earth" beast is the 7th head to form the 7 headed Satan with 10 horns of Revelation that arises from the sea.

Remember in Revelation 13, there is the 7 headed Satan that rises up from the sea, and then the 2 horned beast from the earth/ aka the false prophet rises up? Why is he called the "beast from the earth"?

Because the "beast from the earth" (false prophet) is coming from the "earth"/ land beast, the 4th beast with 10 horns, the 7th head of Satan. (Yes, the 4th "land" beast is coming out of the sea.) In other words, this is the "little horn" that comes up among the 10 horns on the 4th / "earth"/ "land"/ "wild" beast.

23 “Thus he said:‘The fourth beast shall be
A fourth kingdom on earth,
Which shall be different from all other kingdoms,
And shall devour the whole earth,
Trample it and break it in pieces.
24 The ten horns are ten kings
Who shall arise from this kingdom.
And another shall rise after them;
He shall be different from the first ones,
And shall subdue three kings.

[the 11th horn, the false prophet arises from the "earth"/ 4th beast with 10 horns and subdues 3 kings]

25 He shall speak pompous words against the Most High,
Shall persecute[d] the saints of the Most High,
And shall intend to change times and law.
Then the saints shall be given into his hand
For a time and times and half a time.

26 ‘But the court shall be seated,
And they shall take away his dominion,
To consume and destroy it forever.
27 Then the kingdom and dominion,
And the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven,
Shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High.
His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
And all dominions shall serve and obey Him.’

11 “I watched then because of the sound of the pompous words which the horn was speaking; I watched till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame. 12 As for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away, yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

Here in this passage, the little horn dies, but the other beasts lives are prolonged for a "season and a time" (Dan 9's 70 literal weeks). The "other beasts" are the nations that form the 7 headed Satan with 10 horns (in other words, the battle that occurs at Bowl 6 is against the 7 headed Satan.)

At the end of 'time, times, and a half", the False prophet little horn that had arisen from the 4th ("wild"/ "earth") beast with 10 horns is killed.

The world becomes Christ's kingdom and Christ is given dominion (just like in Rev 11, at the end of the 1260 days of the outer court given to the Gentiles and end of the 2nd woe, the world becomes Christ's - but! the 7 headed Satan is still present for another 'season and a time" (70 weeks).

The 6th bowl war removes the 7 headed Satan.
