Here's an alternative explanation. Some people don't like having their love relationships denigrated on the basis of an ancient book. So they reject the book. That sounds more plausible to me than your notion.

I think fear comes into it with a lot of people, but people who don't believe because they are afraid aren't necessarily bad, and I think that fear is a very valid reason. There is a LOT to be afraid of when it comes to spirituality.

It makes sense, but I think this is a generalization.

It is a frightening prospect, putting your trust in something you can't see. Faith is not something to be taken lightly, as I think you'll agree. It is a scary thing to all of a sudden give up so many aspects of your life for what could be a fairytale.

God's is able to reveal Himself to every person. When He does, it is unmistakeable. It is then that one, convinced, with both sorrow and joy, surrenders one's life to the source of their existence and the giver of salvation and ALL good things.

Yes, but you are talking about the ends, not the means.

All this can't happen until one lets go of the fear. If there is resistance this doesn't happen. You've said it before, god is there, ready for us and it is up to us to take the step.

But that step can be very hard to take.

Yes, we can certainly make it hard for ourselves! But when one knows He is nothing without Him, he makes the leap! Then we kick ourselves in the fanny for not doing it sooner!

It just takes a little bit of faith, the size of a mustard seed. He knocks, we open the door. He does the saving, not us. A good father gives his kiddies great things. A loving and perfect heavenly Father can be expected to do no less!

Could be! But I have spoken to mountains in my own life and commanded them in Jesus' name to get out of my way or I'm coming through them. They move.

Duh, which is why God doiesn't just let people move mountains willy-nilly... thats not a contradiction, by the way, thats Theological ineffibility

theres a catch-22 to the mountain moving. One truly in faith desires what is in God's will to do, so the only time a mountain is gonna move is when God is ready for that mountain to move And personally I take that passage as a statement of the size of the things we can do through God, that through Him the impossible is possible, and unmovable is movable.

I'm aware of the catch 22... which, viewed from a different angle, looks suspiciously like a cop out
