they chose to participate in a sexual activity ... they didn't choose to be gay or straight. The folks that tried it and liked it are bisexual, and the folks who tried it and didn't are straight.. ..I'm not sure how that proves orientation is a choice.
I've no doubt there are some people who make a "choice" regarding their orientation. I have only encountered one or two folks who claim they were straight and "chose" to become homosexual. To each their own, it's not my belief that the majority of people "choose" where they fit on the sexual spectrum.

She'd grouped bisexuality into "action" rather than "orientation". If you're not actively having sex with both genders, you're not bisexual.
At one point I mentioned a girl I'd broken up with due to philosophical differences - this would be her.
Her stance on bisexuality was a minor issue next to her love of Plato and Socrates.

Of course not. Like I said, in some cases there is a choice of action, but not orientation. It is never a choice to simply start liking the same sex. A celibate person still has sexual feelings so I'm not saying that they can't be homosexual or heterosexual. Sorry if it was interpreted this way.

Look, sexuality governs several aspects of our lives. Perhaps I should have said that Homosexual LOVE is a lifestyle. Life for a gay couple and straight couple are extremely different. These differences are based on societal norms, restricted traditions and practices (marriage, joint taxes, etc), the oppression of homosexuals, gender norms, and the different daily situations one deals with based on being gay or straight.
Yes Corvus, heterosexual love is a lifestyle. I apologize for wording my above statement in a way for you to misinterpret it.

I agree that for most people it isn't a choice, but for me it was. I chose exactly that: to start liking the same sex.
I'm sorry to labour this point, but it's important to me. I don't like it when people stand up and say, "It's never a choice for anyone, ever." Um, excuse me, but yes, it is. For some people.
