• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a great deal of paranoia, even to the point of it being crippling, but right now you seem to have it more than I do.

I'm not out to get you.
I haven't attacked you.
I don't hate you.
I don't hate your views, I just find them bigotted and unfair.
You seem like a nice guy, just a little misguided and stubborn.

Careful how you use the word "flamer".

seebs, nice post, but we are not to be uncertain about what God said.

Besides, lets let the thread author have his bibleless thread.

I believe you are the one that wouldn't drop religion for the debate, even after I asked, but sure, whatever.

Which is better, being uncertain about a belief which is correct, or being certain of a belief which is wrong? "Let each be convinced in his own mind" doesn't mean "the moment you form an opinion, commit to that belief no matter what evidence may arise".

Okay, in that case, homosexuality is a non-issue, but promiscuity is dangerous, and we should push social policies that will get gay people into long-term committed relationships, to reduce medical risks.

Why should I be careful? I flamed no one.

I am not paranoid, the thread was going fine until you came in and started accusing me of being a bigot, you know nothing about me. Your barking up the wrong tree.

You know nothing of my views, good thing all gay people are not like you, or else I would be bigoted.

Man, you are paranoid.

What medical risks? Oh I see, now being gay is a medical risk?

No, promiscuity is, and I honestly don't believe anyone could have had trouble understanding that from the context of the post.

Oh yeah, but since 'flamer' is slang and I didn't intentionally use the word in that context, I am not in the wrong.

Am I in iminent danger?

Can't even take sides with you people, sad indeed! :(

Who's us? Most Christians do think the bible condemns homosexuality. You are one tracked and closed minded and refuse to accept the possibility that homosexuality (also the absence of marriage) is sexual immorality.

I've considered it at length, but it seems pretty clear that, for homosexuality (as opposed to homosexual acts) to be sinful requires a fairly cruel God. Homosexual acts sinful? I can't say, but I see no evidence at all for such a position. I've tried and tried, but that's just not what the book says.

That makes no sense, calling me paranoid for calling you paranoid after you posted several rants against me, accusing me of being... basically... out to get you.

I never called you bigoted, some of what you posted here, however, was very bigoted.

Why are you so insistant on calling me gay? I'm not. Gay people only like those of the same sex.

Can't we please get along? =(

Of course we can get along. :)

You did say you were bi though.

And what did I say that was bigoted, I will retract or consider retracting, if you can show I was conveying any personal bigoted statements. I do resent being called a bigot.

This was bigoted:
Having to deal with a homosexual on such an insignificant occasion as buying bread, can easily make one’s skin crawl, if not ruin one’s day. The feminine voice, dress, coupled with their feminine movements, can provide considerable incentive to avoid such people.

It perpetuates the stereotype that gays are feminine, which is only true about some gay men.

GTX, you may not have meant it as insulting, but you have regularly come across as vaguely condescending and hostile towards the queer people. I don't know why, and it's not something where I can point at a specific word - just the overall communications style came across that way, to me at least.

I am bi, very bi... but you keep calling me gay for some reason.

And what did I say that was bigoted, I will retract or consider retracting, if you can show I was conveying any personal bigoted statements. I do resent being called a bigot.

Instead of quoting a lot of things, I think this sums it up:
Having to deal with a homosexual on such an insignificant occasion as buying bread, can easily make one?s skin crawl, if not ruin one?s day. The feminine voice, dress, coupled with their feminine movements, can provide considerable incentive to avoid such people.

<That was just awful, dealing with me makes your skin crawl? >

I have thought about this on numerous occasions and if the gay couple in question are seriously committed to one another and do not flaunt or go around hitting on strangers, then that is their own business. If this was always the case then the issue of homosexuality wouldn't be so strong and possibily non existent.

No amount of protesting, lobbying or complaining will further 'mental' acceptance by the people. People are coerced into making and accepting laws to recognize homosexuals in marriage a legal proposition by politicians and or homosexual rallies or outright flaunting of this lifestyle.

This was my view of how heterosexual people view gay people, not necessarily how I view them, I said somewhere else that I might get a little instinctivly uneasy or whatever, but I never said anything bigotted.

And why the  face?? I thought you weren't gay? :D
