Australopithecus Afarnesis
3.9 to 2.9 Million Years old
Height 1.5m (Males) 1m (females)
Over 400 fossils found across East Africa.
Skull: 450cm square, similar size to apes of today.
Limbs: Long arms and short legs, which is again similar to apes
Hands: Curved elongated fingers, indicates a strong grip (probably still a tree dweller, gripping onto branches etc) Long thumbs, a more human like feature.
Feet: Long curved toes similar to apes, but also has an arched foot similar to humans.
Hips: Short and wide, bowl like shape, typical of a bipedal walker.
Knees: Due to the wide hips the knees are similar to humans, designed for bipedal walking. Apes on the other hand, with narrow hips need to walk with their knees bent outwards to balance, when walking on two feet.
Summary: A skeleton that shares both Ape and Human features.
Homo Erectus:
1.9Million to 200k years ago.
Height: 1.45M - 1.85M
Weight: 40kg to 60kg
Skull: 850cm squares - half way between apes and humans
Hands: Not enough fossils for a clear picture, however it is beleived that they were similar to ours, due to evidence that they used tools, such as tear shaped axes.
Legs: Long legs like humans specialised for bipedal walking, allowing them to cover greater distances with less energy.
Teeth: You can tell someone's age by their teeth similar to rings on a tree. The best fossil recovered was of a 9yr old boy, however he was almost fully grown, indicating that this species reached adulthood much faster then we do.
Arms: Proportional size to humans, indicating that they did not live in trees, but permanently on the ground.
Key features: Skeletal composition shows that they would have had the ability to run, which would enable them to hunt larger animals with their tools. They did not use projectile weapons, so they would have used their endurance to chase and exhaust their prey before killing it with their simple tools.
Homo Neanderthalensis
200k to 30k years ago
Height: 1.55m to 1.7m
Weight: 40Kg to 90Kg
Skull: As large or slightly larger than modern humans. Heavy brow and a large nose, which would allow a larger surface area to warm up the cold air of the ice age.
Chest: Wider and more funnel shaped than modern humans, also shorter and stockier than modern humans. Today we see similar traits in modern humans that live in very cold climates, which helps retain body heat.
Ankles: Their ankles were not as well adapted for long distance running, they are better suited for walking or sprinting. This suggestes that they may have been an ambush hunter, relying on surprise and speed to slay their prey.
Arms: They had very stong hands and arms. There is evidence that they used spears during their hunting, and often suffered from hunting accidents. Their upper body strength would have aided them with spear thrusting, especially against larger prey.
Legs: The lower part of their legs were shorter than modern humans, with larger knees and curved thighbones, reflecting their active hunter-gatherer lifestyle.
Key Points: Bone structure is adapted to throwing things, such as spears. Modern day humans adapt their bone structure in the same way when they are regularly throwing or hittong things. If you check out a tennis players arm, their bone structure will be different on their hitting arm.
All this information comes from Dr Isabelle De Groote, a palaeoanthropologist via a magazine article.
Feel free to dispute any of the facts in here, as well as discuss the 'may have and would have' areas. For example the curved fingers of Australopithecus Afarnesis indicates the lived in trees.... If you don't agree with this, please try and come up with your own plausible reason for why they would have curved fingers and not live in the trees, before you discredit someone's conclusions who studies skeletal anatomy for a living.

You can believe whatever you want to believe. I can only share with you what I have learned from my experience and what I have studied. People will be required to give an account of their life before God. It is the Holy Spirit of God that has been given to guide and lead you into all truth. So we can not get to hung up on what people say. How many healing services have you been to? How many people have you prayed for healing?

Again and I have said this many times. I am a GAP. I do not try to defend YEC or OEC here on this board. For GAP a day is 1,000 years. So if you look at the nano diamond comet this lines up with day one of Genesis in the Bible. Notice the date we get from science 12,900 years. That is very close to the date I use of 12,982 years. Then what happens on day two? God divided the waters. That is exactly what science tells us. The ice was melting and this was the beginning of a new age. The neolithic revolution. I do not want to go though all of this right now. Maybe someday I will write a book.
There is no conflict between science and the Bible. Science can be used to help us to better understand the Bible and it's message for us in this day and age that we now live in. Every generation has discovered the Bible new and fresh and how the Bible can be used to help them in the time that they are alive. God is talking to all of us and God has a message for all of us in the Bible, the written word of God. If you want to ignore God and ignore what God is telling you, then that is your choice. But don't try to blame me, because He is going to hold you responsible to do what your suppose to be doing and to know what your suppose to learn and to know. You can go before God and say this person did this and that person did that. Then He will say fine, now lets talk about you. What did you do with what God gave you to work with?

Why?
I've found out over the years that it doesn't matter if we believe A or -A, the result will still be the same: venting & ridicule.
One believes the Flood was local, another believes it was global.
One believes in [theistic] evolution, another believes in creation.
One believes the Bible contains science, another doesn't.
I really don't think it matters what we believe; I think it matters what we are.
