The problem with unifying with a system that has an institutionalized hierarchy is that we are expected to respect the authority of that hierarchy. We don't, so it just doesn't work.

I'm not a catholic, but I've had spiritual experiences associated with the eucharist in the catholic church - this is something I've never had with a protestant church yet.

That doesn't mean I agree with them theologically but it's interesting, as if there is some spiritual authority that is present with them. Personally though I cherish my freedom too much to join their ranks, and from out here I have found that I have certain appreciation for all of the apostolic churches.

Brothers, this sparring is no good. We need to come together in agreement, we need to love one another in truth, we need to humble ourselves and love one another. I feel like i must leave because this stuff is hurting my walk with God.

I'm not pointing fingers, the whole GT forum is in contention. Just look at any contention or division, that's not what the gospel teaches us. We are failing the Lord when we do that. I know its hard to come together over differences but we must, that's our calling. To love one another in meekness and submit to one another in love. I'm not judging because i too have failed, but contention is not good for the spirit, we must reject it, even the smallest form of it. We shouldn't take this lightly.

Sometimes God uses some of us to bring peace in the midst of contention.....God is good...He can work even in the midst of differences.....He's bigger than all of it....His beauty, His holiness shineth still......

Whats there to disagree about? We all know we need to love each other and to be doers of the word, we should let any disagreements go and talk about what we agree on. This debating gets out of hand sometimes and causes new believers to enter into debating the word rather than doing the word, its not debating that's wrong, its just that it shouldn't be done the way we do it and in front of new Christians because it doesn't help them, it doesn't help many of us either, i see your point but i wish you could see what i see, its horrible.

Debating helped me learn, so i can't be against it, but i really think the way we have done it it causes contention that undermines the work of the holy Spirit in us. I don't know something just doesn't fit.

Hang in there......God loves us, still, and He work-eth in each of our hearts to love each other.....He's got us.....He WILL impart His glorious grace into each of our hearts and minds....

Perhaps that is what holiness is, in action.....the keeping going...while He renews our minds and hearts continually.....

I would almost agree with you here except for the bolded statement. As it's worded, it seems to imply that there is some righteousness that is apart from the righteousness of God himself which he intends for us to obtain. But there is only one who is good, and that is God.

Man's righteousness must come from God. All righteousness comes from God. By disobeying God, Adam & Eve began to operate according to their own righteousness, determining good and evil for themselves. Through the Cross, mans "righteousness" is exposed for the evil it is-filthy rags worn in place of the genuine thing, the true perfection or righteousness God created for man to wear. He wants us to wear it again-adorned with the innocence He always intended.
