I read quite a bit and have a pile of unread books that never seems to get smaller. I do write, but it tends to be less of a regular activity and more as part of NaNoWriMo (which is coming up soon).

I play bass in my church worship band, so I guess that would count as a hobby that I've been able to make use of. Although perhaps technically it's not really leisure time activity as I hardly ever play outside of the band context.

I enjoy board games, and have probably spent far too much money on them as it's certainly not a cheap hobby, but I am getting better at cutting down the rate at which I buy new games.

My most recent interest is in genealogy as I've started researching my family history. So far I've managed to go back as far as my fourth great-grandparents (not all of them as there are some instances where the trail stops earlier), so those born about 1790-1800.

Going back further becomes trickier as there are far fewer records available, so there won't be as much I'll be able to confirm myself and I'll need to start relying on research other people have done. I have taken a look at some of it, and it appears that I might be descended from Anne Boleyn's grandfather. But then again, so would a lot of other people, so that's not much of a claim to fame.

Astronomy is fun! And it's something you want to share when you know what you're looking at.

What a significant sight to see them all lined up. Something like that happened Dec. 1st 1997. Five planets by sight and two more with field-glasses.

8 PLANETS, MOON WILL LINE UP THIS WEEK FOR RARE SKY SHOW

That was some night!

Even the ancients knew better. :(
the planets lining up wasin 1997 . I’ll never forget that . My crazy neighbors all outside in PJs in freezing weather to see it .

I remember that, there's even a huge comet! I built a telescope just for it.

It was a really good year, there's even Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls, lol!

I have had many hobbies over the years. I sometimes enjoy drawing, writing, and making music, but I don't do those as much as I used to. I used to make clay models but I rarely do that anymore. I like to sing but I don't do it very often.

Some hobbies I still enjoy doing include sewing, playing video games, and using the computer. I also enjoy taking walks and I recently got into needlepoint. Here are some plushies and needlepoints I made:

Use the Pi constant.

So far, they can't find any repeating numbers in the decimal.

I've used Pi to generate random numbers before for data analysis. You do find some sort of patterns if you interpret the numbers as a quantity (in graphs).

At the very heart of our reality is a circle (quantum). The foundation of reality itself and life.

You can download it from somewhere Pi decimal extrapolated to the 1 millionth digit, etc. Careful with what you find!
Thanks for the tip, timewerx. The LCG method is very expensive to calculate, so I'm always open to alternatives.

I've been a competitive dancer since I was five, and it is still a passion and a pillar in my life. I feel like it's a way of making art with my body. But it's not my hobby. A couple of years ago I really began to crave a way to gain the same pleasures as with dancing - the creativity and artistry of it - but without any of the pressures - and I serendipitously discovered circus arts. I first was focused more on aerial dance but have since become more captivated by contortion art.

I made this for one of my trainers, using his two favorite songs, of us working together or with his family:

I also write poems and am a singer / songwriter; I've shared some of what I've written and my music on here in the past. Painting used to be part of my daily life but since I'm no longer taking art classes it sadly hasn't been as much of it lately. I also love running!!!!!

I've seen some of your poems around here. I don't like poetry at all so you having been able to make me like yours well that is saying something about your talent! You'd had some vids up of your music too, real talent with that too. But jeepers. That video is something else. Incredible! Are you standing on your hands on top of that gal's neck?!

I hadn't realized there was such a thing as competitive dancing. Once a year I put on a suit and go to a formal with my girl where we have to dance. That's it for me.

Im a dancer ,at my age we’re called silver swans .( Probably because we’re about as graceful as a swan made of tinfoil caught in a windstorm .) I quilt , paint and draw and I still study science even though I’ve been out of school for decades . I’m a house plant fiend I’ve “officially” got too many plants in the house. Over 50 genera with a few species in each. I’m also a serious reader I’ll buy textbooks! And I like junk sci fi and fantasy novels

I think I'd be called an ugly duckling dancer, lol. With no hope of me ever turning into a swan.

I saw that movie Black Swans. I can't say I liked it at all, saw it on account of how that's what my girl wanted to watch. It does have a character who shows what it's like when dancers are considered "old" when they're not old at all.

. When I was dancing it took me about 1-2 hours to warm up properly and I still had to dance for about 4- 6 hours . I wasn’t a paid professional who actually have longer days . Dancers stop around age 45-50 because we simply can’t do it any more it’s rare to be able to do it professionally past 50 and very few make it to 60 . I only do a half hour to an hour just to keep from being stiff and to keep my weight more normal . Being overly flexible means you’ll get sore if you stop

No problem, Anthony. Yea, that might save some to make really good random numbers.

Reading, playing games (alone or with friends and family), bike riding, hiking, photography, music, watching movies or tv shows, baking, writing, genealogy research, personality type theory, learning other languages, and travel. I probably watch too much youtube. ^_^
I like to plan tea parties with close family and friends. I guess that’s a more recent hobby because I like herbal tea now.
Learning and thinking about new things and ideas in general is a fun “hobby” I guess. ^_^
Random conversations can be fun.
I read quite a bit and have a pile of unread books that never seems to get smaller. I do write, but it tends to be less of a regular activity and more as part of NaNoWriMo (which is coming up soon).

I can relate with your whole post; except that I play a different instrument and my “famous” ancestor is John Alden (dude from the Mayflower who has thousands of descendants). I have a lot of distant cousins in the US I guess.
I briefly thought about doing the Nano this year because i’m getting emails about it, but I’m not sure if I will have time. Maybe I should though. I’m trying to finish a book with my co-writer and because we are both busy people I made a hybrid version of the nano for us to try last year.
The normal version of nanowrimo I’ve only gotten to about 13k words (it might have been twice that but I’d have to look at the old files and see). Have you ever finished the Nanowrimo? And do you ever prep for it with ideas ahead of time or do you just start from scratch?

*Geek hat on*
Unless you buy a hardware random number generator. The relevant Wikipedia page is a good read if you are interested in physical phenomena that can be exploited to yield true randomness.
*Geek hat off*
* Dons his Geek hat, which looks a lot like a fedora *

I meant in terms of phenomena happening by means of luck or chance, or in general outside the confines of God's sovereignty. ^_^ I never heard of this method of randomization before though, very cool.

* Keeps his Geek hat on, 'cause it's stylin' *
