Hinn and Bonke

I don't know who Bonke is. I'm not sure what to think of Hinn. Some of his theology is kind of bunk from what I hear, but I think that he very well could be an anointed man of God. I don't know. I try to be careful with those televangel people...

I haven't heard Bonke teach although I have heard a lot about his mass crusades in Africa, where millions apparantly turn up. Hinn I think could do with some better PR (public relations). He has become the main target of ridicule, criticism and attacks. Put it this way, if you posted this in the non-denom or General Theo forums you would see some very passionate and strongly held accusations aimed at BH. Over here your more likely to see the odd supporter and a generally more balanced view. If I'm totally honest I'm quite weary of these "what do you think of this person" threads because they invariably descend into personal attacks which, let's face it hardly edify. Just my 2 pennies..

Oops. Sorry. I ask because over the summer someone showed me a video of someone being raised from the dead in Africa at a Bonke crusade. Something bothered me about Bonke's preaching style, but I accepted from the video that the man had been raised from the dead. Later, I found people who thought the entire incident was faked, and included the fact that Bonke had talked about the incident on Hinn's show. Now, when I have watched Hinn, it really seemed fake to me. But these feelings are so subjective that it's hard for me to give this proof that we shouldn't trust them. So I wanted to know what everyone else thought, maybe somebody who had more experience with them.

I love Pastor Benny and Brother Bonnke. There is probably no single person on the globe who is presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ to more people face to face than Reinhard Bonnke.

I believe they are not fake. I have been to confrences where half of the people got healed of an ailment or something. I know it wasn't fake cause I could feel the Holy Spirit up in that place. When I used to see Benny on tv I had suspisions on the charismatic validity. Now that I attend a more charismatic church, he gives me a boost in faith. I hear reports on his spending and what have you, those people that accuse look strait past his fruit. Millions of people know the Lord because of his ministry. Even if he mishandles God's money, he will have to answer to God. God will still use his ministry to harvest God's currancy, souls. May God bless them and keep them in humility.

It doesnt matter what I think of them. What matters is what God thinks of them. I'm not a huge "fan" of Benny Hinn, I think his crusades are to much "show biz". I admit I do watch Beny from time to time, and believe God is using him.

You're fine david. It's just that some of us here don't like certain things for whatever reason, but you have the right to post whatever you want.

One thing that I wish that Benny Hinn would do (I don't know about bonke) would be to have some sort of preaching or something like that on the air. Just so people could hear his theology, and realize that there is more to going to church than people just getting slain...

Good morning, David. (Yawn!).
Don’t feel bad. You will also learn that there are some in the forum who want to give controversial televangelists a free pass no matter how crooked they are, will defend them no matter how obvious their duplicity, and will accuse you of being judgmental when you catch the crooks in with their hand in the cookie jar.
People say they hate these threads, but they read them like an alcoholic drinks his beer.

Televangelists spend their entire lives promoting themselves and want all the privileges (and wealth) that fame affords but none of the responsibility (or accountability) that accompanies it. They want public prestige without scrutiny of their private lives. Thank God for watchdogs (secular or otherwise) who hold their feet to the fire. Their disciples won’t do it.

But, hey, everyone knows I am no fan of Gospel Show Biz and celebrity Christianity.

My sympathies are the widows whose houses they devour and the people of God they make merchandise of. Televangelists don’t want your sympathy; they want your money, that’s why they keep asking for it. Haven’t you figured that our yet?

I hope my response didn't cause you to feel as though I was attacking you. I guess I have just read so many Joyce Meyer, Benny Hinn and Ken Copeland threads to last a life time. Anyway, I hope that doesn't stop you posting more new topics.

Here are 2 scriptures to help you figure this out:

• Luke 9:49 And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.
50 And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.

• Php 1:15 Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will.
16 The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel;
17 the former proclaim Christ out of partisanship, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment.
18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in that I rejoice.

Note that Paul even said that even if Christ was preached "in pretense", he rejoices!

As long as the person is not anti-Jesus, as long as he or she is preaching Christ and getting people saved, rejoice! as Paul did. You may not like his face or style or ministry, but that is besides the point.

Also, bear in mind that whenever someone becomes "famous" or "prominent" or rises head and shoulders above the rest, there will always be those who want to find fault, criticise, tear down and lop their heads off, even among Christians.

If you think a minister is not doing the right thing, then pray for him. No need to play church policement or heresy hunter. God can make his own stand, and they answer to Him.

• Ro 14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

I am not familiar enough with Bonnke to give my opinion, but I have been to one of Benny Hinn's crusades. I can tell you from personal experience that the Holy Spirit is real in his life and at his crusades. Benny Hinn is an upright man of God, and I believe fully in his ministry. He has touched so many people with the word of God. I know someone who was healed while at a Benny Hinn crusade and I assure you that it was no joke. They are free from that illness still today. I praise God for people like Benny!
