Either we will see the release of the Spirit in these texts or we will not see - what we see and how we see is always a choice - stay on fire and you are on fire.

Oh, I see. You’ve invented a phrase. I still do not find the phrase “Release of the Holy Spirit” in the Bible. I have always had difficulty with made-up religious slogans and phrases.

I have the same trouble with "Holy Trinity" myself Jim; maybe you can find that one for me? ;)

God bless, love Susana
I know what you mean. I can’t find Trinity in the Bible either. Heck I can’t even find the word ‘Bible’ in the Bible.

Do you believe everyone having hands layed on to receive the Baptism will receive it? Is there ever a 'timing issue' involved?

I've witnessed several people receiving prayer for this and going away disappointed, because they truly felt nothing happened...no feeling, no experience, no tongues, no difference, no nothing...just the exact way they felt before the prayer. And no witness of power ever manifested.

I've read, at times, there can be hindrances to receiving the Baptism. What are your thought on this. There seems to be many people here who can tell you the time, date, clothes they were wearing.....everything to the detail when they were filled because it was that much of a significant event.

So for someone to say "Nothing Happened....I'm telling you....nothing happened" it makes me wonder if there can be hindrances.

Generally speaking, i don't believe there are any hinfrances to receiving the baptism of the holy spirit. If you are a Christian you have every right and God wants you to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. People may say that you need to get rid of sin or whatever before you can receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, but the Baptism of the H S is there to help you get rid of sin. People may say that you need to get to a certain level in your walk with God, or in intimacy with God before you can receive the baptism of the holy spirit, but the truth is; the Holy Spirit is there to help you grow in God and and grow in intimacy with God.

The new christians in samaria were not told of any hindrances or anything, or given warning before receiving the Holy Spirit. As soon as Peter knew that they were Christians no more questions needed to be asked. They received then and there. (Acts 8)

Also once Paul new that the disciples at ephsus were Christians and had not been baptised in the holy spirit, no more questions needed to be asked. They received then and there. (Acts 19)

Generally speaking there are no hindrances in receiving the baptism of the holy spirit ie; you do not need to reach a certain level in your walk with God or eliminate a certain amount of sin before you can receive it. However there are basically only a couple of thrings that stop a person from receiving it.
bad motives for receiving the holy spirit
  • non-Christian - since a non-Christian has not been saved and stepped into a right relationship with god they have no right to ask for the baptism of the holy spirit. Salvation is offered to the sinner, but the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is offered to the righteous.
  • inability or unwillingness to receive the holy spirit - some people may ask for the bap of h s but not allow the holy spirit to enter.the h s is a gentleman. he won't force himself in if you don't actually want him there.
  • doubt and unbelief - the baptism of the holy spirit is received by faith. Why would god give you this gift if you don't believe it exists or don't believe that your loving father wants to give it to you.
  • bad motives - just like simon the sorcerer who wanted the baptism of the holy spirit for bad motives and didn't receive it, neither can you. If you want it so that you can pray in tongues and look all 'spiritual' then you've missed the point and you won't get it unless God decides to be merciful and give it to you anyway.
Generally speaking there are no hindrances, but the previously discussed things can stop you from receiving the bap of h s.
